As Bonnie spoke, Nova flicked an appendage back toward her, glancing briefly over her shoulder, with one food still resting upon one of the melted clumps. 'Nova,' she corrected in a soft rumble, before turning away from the melted pillars. As the little red one settled beside Bonnie, Nova sat herself at what felt to be a comfortable distance, pausing a moment to listen to the night around them. Nothing but them, so far.
Bonnie spoke again, though, taking a guess. Appendages folding back against dark scales, Nova shifted uncomfortably as she turned her head slightly away. 'Humans,' she began, tone taking on the edge of a dark growl. Her gaze shifted toward the human fortress, and her wings shifted slightly against her sides, as though she were reminding herself she could fly away at any moment if she needed.
'They slaughtered them.' She did not bother sugar-coating it. What was the use? This way, there were no room for misunderstandings. With a mournful sigh, she peered out across the water. 'Looking to find what's left,' she continued, glancing back toward the pair again.
'I was told I was the last one...but I saw one similar to me, and the worlds are so different now.' Even though she did not understand it, could not fully comprehend the shift, she referred to the welding of the worlds. There was never before so much to see and know - but now, there was. And she had seen a light fury, some distant kin it would seem. It was a possibility, a chance, and one she could not pass up. 'There might still be another left...' And Nova might not be alone anymore. The unspoken words resonated within her, and she closed her eyes for the briefest of moments.
No. This was distracting her. She could not let her guard down to mope, to dream, to hope for the impossible. This was all ridiculous, she was putting herself at risk for nothing. Yet...what if she was right? if she was not the last one...did their kind not deserve for her to at least try? What if they were caught somewhere, and if she really tried, she could rescue them? To what lengths was she really willing to go, not to be alone anymore?
