Banzai  the basics full name • Banzai nicknames • Cactus Butt ("IT WAS ONE TIME, SHENZI. ONE TIME!") age • Six years primary standing • Black Knight secondary standing • Shenzi's second in command, sort of faction • Cursed Thorns species • Spotted Hyena gender • Male sexuality • Speculated hetero, but who's to say? the appearance origin • The Lion King height and weight • 2'9", 120 lbs overall appearance • A typical spotted hyena, Banzai doesn't have much to distinguish him from the others. HIs fur is kind of a greyish brown, he has a black mane running from a bit beyond his head and down his neck, a hunched back, and a few little hairs coming from the top of his head. His muzzle, unlike Shenzi's, is tipped with a darker grey near his nose and going up to his chin. His paws also are black, and he has spots strewn about his body. the personality overall personality • Not the brightest of hyenas, Banzai tends to be more of a follower than a leader in terms of actions. He's very food motivated and can be vicious when he wants to be, but tends to be less serious than Shenzi and Scar. He also can't read the mood around him some of the time and tends to be rather tactless. the history overall history • Born in the same clan as Shenzi, Banzai was dealt more or less the same hand as the other cubs. He had to scrounge around for food and learned to respect the matriarch, as was his place in the world to do. When the time came, he and another cub simply referred to as Ed were paw picked to become friends with Shenzi. It was from there that they all learned to practice the art of sneaking into the Pride Lands to poach. They had minimal success, and ultimately it led them to meet with a lion who eventually would go on to call himself Scar. They befriended the lion, surprisingly, and soon became sorts of partners in crime with him. Banzai wasn't complaining. Even though he did think lions were pushy, smelly, and ugly, he did have to admit that Scar had a sort of commanding air about him. Time passed, and when the quartet reached adulthood things began to get interesting. Banzai heard the same as any of the others that Mufasa had taken on the role of king and that he and his mate had an heir. Scar was not happy about this in the slightest, and under Shenzi's leadership he and Ed were tasked with eliminating the heir. The plan was a disaster purely because Mufasa had come to Simba's rescue, but Scar came to the hyenas with a plan that would kill both Mufasa and Simba in one fell swoop. Except, the plan never became a success. As it was happening, a no good human stuck his nose where it didn't belong and saved the king from his untimely death. Banzai and the other hyenas were forced to make a retreat while Scar was kicked out of the Pride Lands along with his mate. For a while, Banzai bode his time with the others. They had to pick and peck their way at the bottom of the food chain, but hey. A living was a living, and Banzai wasn't about to rock the boat when it came to Shenzi's ideas. He played witness to her birthing a litter of her own, and although rumors speculated that he might have been the father Banzai never laid claim to any of the cubs as his own. He did have to admit that he took a liking to Janja, though. Foolish though it was, Banzai did encourage the eldest cub's attempts at being a leader. He knew it was more or less in vain, considering how hyena society worked, but Banzai liked Janja's attitude and didn't want to stifle it too far. When Scar returned, Banzai tailed along behind Shenzi and allowed himself to be recruited. He just kind of shrugged his shoulders and decided 'why not.' It wouldn't be that bad to join up with Scar again. Who knew? Maybe they'd have a better chance at making a place in the world for themselves if they followed his lead a second time. Of course, none of them quite bargained for Maleficent to come and took leadership.
