(January 3rd, early night on the Corona bridge - open to anyone near the bridge, humans/humanoids tread carefully)
This world...was new. Everything was new. Different. And yet, was it all...bad? Nova had met her kin. Well, kind of. She was not entirely the same. She was white, and softer, and she defended a human hatchling...yet even so. In many ways, they were the same. Perhaps Nova's species was gone...but part of it lived on in there kind as well, not just in her. She was glad, at least. Glad, and curious. She wanted to find out more. To seek out others of her kind. How vast was this new world? It may not be safe, it may be swarming with humans...but it was new, and she had seen a possibility that she could not turn away from. Not yet, at least.
With a soft, gurgling murmur, the dragoness slunk warily from the cover of trees. Before her lay water, and in the middle of that water, an island. She knew that island was home to humans. She had been watching it from a distance. However, she had seen animals, too. Other creatures, big and small. She was not about to trust any of them. However, perhaps a less wary member of her kin...maybe they could reside here? She found it unlikely...but she wanted to survey this place while she still could. Humans were not fond of night. She knew from experience they could not see in the dark. They needed guidance, if without a source of light. She could use that to her advantage. Her kind liked the dark, they roamed at night. If the humans slept while the dragons roamed...maybe she could find kin here, without risking being caught. It was a risk. It was stupid. She was so close to just turning back into the forest...
With a huff, Nova shoved her thoughts stubbornly aside and slipped into the water. It would be even riskier to fly to the island. However, if she swam, with the dark and the bridge as cover to hide her from prying eyes...if she needed to, she could dive under water, swim away, then fly off. She would be fine. She was a strong swimmer. Her mother taught her for this very reason...kind of. Taking a breath, Nova scanned the bridge once more, before slipping under the water. It was cool on her scales, soothing even, and her eyes flitted open under the surface as she began to swim toward her destination.
Closer to the bridge, Nova breached the surface as quietly as possible. Clawed feet reached onto a ledge of stone around one of the pillars, and she pulled herself up onto it. With a quiet rumble the only break in her silence, Nova craned her neck up and tensed, appendages on her head twitching as she listened. She could not hear anything, and the bridge had been empty when she looked before. She could not smell anyone, either. Spreading her wings, Nova jumped off the stone and twisted, allowing her wings to carry her gracefully up onto the bridge. Now she was in the open. No more cover. She just had to hope this little adventure worked out the way she hoped, or at the very least, she got away from here safely if it did not.
