Sunray the basics full name • Sunray nicknames • N/A age • Four years primary standing • Scout secondary standing • He's kind of a rescuer of those in danger; with his agility in the air, he can fly into and out of tricky situations and, essentially, airlift people to safety. faction • Gilded Wings species • Pegasus gender • Male sexuality • Hetero the appearance origin • Fantasia's Pastoral Symphony height and weight • 5'8" / 900lbs overall appearance • A young Pegasus with a coat the colour of the setting sun; that is, orange in the main, fading to red at his wingtips, mane and tail. Though well on his way to being the size of an adult, Sunray has yet to come into the full graceful body that his parents display, still carrying some of the awkwardness of a foal about his build and manner. His dark eyes are round and alert; his muzzle fur is a lighter shade to the rest of his coat; and his mane falls, in a straggly way, down between his eyes and across the bridge of his muzzle. the personality likes • Swimming; in fact water in general... and splash fights in particular; flying against the storms (not that he's good at it but, you know...); being able to put his flying skill to good use; lazy evenings just cuddling with Orchid and not doing much else. dislikes • Violence and arguments; that one drunk guy on his donkey (Bacchus, was it? Keep him away, please and thank-you); being the centre of attention; fire. strengths • Agile and swift in the sky; and a decent swimmer, to boot. He has the potential to be good at resolving smaller conflicts, as he tends to be able to see both sides of a situation... although at present, he hasn't discovered this ability yet. weaknesses • Clumsy on the ground, and not much good in any fight where flying won't aid him. Too, he can be rather too conflict-avoidant, tending to simply back away and keep his head down when tempers flare. abilities if any • Mainly just the natural ability to fly, and to roost on the water like a bird. dreams • To spend his whole future with Orchid; to do some good in the world. fears • Harm coming to Orchid; being left out; failing to help someone when he should have been able to. overall personality •It would be fair to say that Sunray isn't as placid as his girlfriend; in contrast to her calm serenity, he can be just a little too excitable sometimes... and can verge on the side of being a little bit reckless, too. Best case in point, perhaps, is his habit of flying through the storms when every other sensible inhabitant of the valley would be seeking shelter; but to Sunray, it's a rush that he cherishes. He likes to think he wouldn't do anything overly foolish... but that, perhaps, depends on whose definition of overly foolish you're looking at. That said, Sunray isn't one to go looking for danger. The storms are different because, as a foal, he learned that they couldn't really hurt him as long as he stayed away from wherever lightning bolts were being thrown; but otherwise, the young Pegasus is a rather conflict-avoidant personality. Too much so, in fact... where he could, in theory, be a good peacemaker as he's often able to empathise with both sides of an argument, his tendency instead is to keep his head down and make himself scarce when tempers flare. Still, he's as loyal a creature as you could ever meet, and is always eager to help out when the opportunity presents itself to him. the history father • Thunderstorm, 10 years mother • Dawn, 11 years siblings • Two brothers and one sister. Sunray is the second oldest. important people • Orchid, his unicorn girlfriend. overall history • Born in a peaceful valley in Ancient Greece, Sunray knew very little of danger or war or strife. Oh, he knew that such things were what humans got up to, but they lived far away, and their trouble never seemed to breach the magically-protected valley. The second son of a pegasus couple, he grew up alongside his siblings - and closest to his sister, the next foal after him, than to either brother - flying and swimming together, their peaceful life only disturbed by Zeus' temper tantrums. Even these couldn't really be a damper to Sunray who, perhaps a bit daringly (or foolishly), developed a taste for the thrill of flying through the storms. He would never manage it for very long, the strong winds always proving too much for him; but he came to think of it as kind of 'his thing'. In time, of course, Sunray went his own way apart from his family. While perhaps not quite fully grown physically - he had a fair way to go before he'd reach his parents' impressive stature - he was certainly ready mentally, needing to live his own life not under his parents' constant watch. His siblings felt much the same way and the four young Pegasai split up. It was as he drifted, one final time, around the lake where they'd always loved to swim and splash one another, that Sunray caught sight of her. A lone unicorn standing on the bank not far away, seeming almost like she was watching him... and while Sunray had, of course, seen unicorns around before, he'd not known them ever to pay much attention to him or his siblings. Curious, he quested closer, and, approaching her, discovered that her name was Orchid. He almost didn't think much of the encounter; though they hit it off well, he'd never really formed long-standing friendships outside of his family, and didn't expect this to be any different. Except... it was. To his own surprise as much as Orchid's, Sunray found himself being drawn around to see her again and again as the days drifted by. They had a lot in common, they both thought the same way a lot of the time, he'd found someone who he felt like he could understand... and who understood him in return. This was amazing; and it didn't take overly long for him to start to suspect that what he felt for her was another level beyond friendship. It took a while for him to decide that he was certain of that... but once he did, he nervously enquired whether Orchid had ever thought of having a boyfriend. When her response was that she'd thought about it, but never figured anyone would be interested in her... well, Sunray couldn't keep quiet any longer. She was far more interesting to him than anyone he'd ever met, and immediately asked if she'd consider him in that role. To his delight, her response was as positive as it was startled, and the pair quickly became an official couple; and Sunray was certain he'd never been happier. When the worlds shifted and the war came, Sunray's first intention was to stay out of it, to stay safe; apparently, however, Orchid didn't have the same thought. If she'd thought he wouldn't notice her absence, she had been entirely mistaken on that count; after panicking for a little while when he couldn't find her, however, Sunray was able to tease an explanation from one of the winged babies who had seen her head out to the war. Naturally, Sunray went from panicked to utterly terrified. Oh, he could certainly understand his beloved's desire to help - the whispers of war had set him on edge, made him wish he could do something for all those caught in the middle, though it had all seemed unattainable and he hadn't wanted to mention as much to Orchid - but they were talking about a war! She could get hurt... his mind was abruptly changed, he had to get out there and join her as soon as possible. The first part was simple enough... the second was easier said than done. With two armies close to being at each other's throats, and no desire to cause the conflict to escalate any further, Sunray instead sought out the rumoured Gilded Wings. Here, at least, he could make some small difference to those who the war would otherwise trample... though, to his dismay, he found that Orchid wasn't one of the group's number. Almost sick with worry, Sunray nonetheless determined to remain where he was, hopeful that he'd hear news of his beloved soon, one way or the other. the role player alias • Cheetah age • 27 pronouns • Male other characters • Mulan, Shenzi, Cody, Amelia, Experiment 624 |
