Requesting Maid Marian for Founding Member of the Gilded Wings
Marian frowned and pursed her lips as she examined the ledger lying open on the desk in front of her. Thus far, the war had been rather uneventful, with only small-scale skirmishes on the borders taking place. But now, the Cursed Thorns had gotten more aggressive, and the Enchanted Suns had their hands full dealing with them. And now, as more people fled the effects of the war, the Gilded Wings were stretched thin trying to help them all.
"Oh dear. I'm afraid we're short on places for people to stay at the moment, even temporarily. We've had more people seeking our help than expected," she sighed, closing the ledger and leaning back in her chair to rub at her tired eyes. She really hated having to deliver such bad news.
"But surely therew's something that you can do! We'll squeeze in with anyone who's willing to house us. I promise we won't take up too much space."
She gazed at the man as he pleaded with her, then sighed as she slowly shook her head. "That's not the real problem. We simply cannot house too many people in one place. There's a risk somebody will take notice, and figure out what's going on," she replied, rising from her chair and holding up a hand, forestalling further words as the man opened his mouth.
"I'm sorry. That's all there is to it. But..." she trailed off as she paced to the window and gazed outside, biting her lower lip for a moment before making up her mind. She turned to face the man, a decisive look on her face. "But, for the time being, I can house you in Nottingham Castle. You'll have to stay out of sight, and I'm afraid it won't be the most comfortable place to stay, but it'll have to do for now."
She knew Robin wouldn't much like the idea. Her influence, and status as King Richard's niece, kept most interlopers away from Nottingham. Neither army wished to risk antagonizing a neutral party like King Richard. But, if they suspected Marian was using the castle as a base for the Gilded Wings, then even her uncle's royal status might not be enough to keep her out of trouble. She was tempted to simply not tell him until she absolutely had to, but the thought of withholding such information from her husband just didn't sit right with her.
No, he had to be told what she had in mind, and she was certain he'd agree to a temporary stay.
"What kind of leader are you?"
Marian makes use of diplomatic skills, personal charm, and if need be gentle chiding to lead. She's not afraid to get her hands dirty, or to try to intervene for another even if it means pleading her case to a known tyrant. Marian is also smart enough to realize when others may have better ideas or more expertise in some areas than she does, and wise enough to accept their advice.
"What skills do you have that sets you aside from others?"
Marian's status as a noblewoman, and niece of King Richard, has given her connections and an extra aura of authority (now that Prince John is out of the picture) that others don't possess. She has undergone tutelage under various teachers, learning practical skills and how to manage a household. While she learned the basics of archery at a young age so she could take part in hunting expeditions alongside her uncle Richard, her husband Robin has furthered this skill, and has begun to teach her the art of the sword as well, putting her agility and athleticism to good use.
"How do they advise and strategize/how do they hold respect or make others listen?"
Marian's advice often stems from her heart, and strong sense of justice. However, even if she feels very strongly about something, she tends to present her arguments in a level-headed, if passionate, manner as she attempts to convince others to do what's right as she sees it. When dealing with those under her authority, she believes a gentle hand is best, rarely resorting to outright commands. Regardless of the station of those she speaks to, she is unfailingly polite unless they've given her due cause to be upset with them.
