(Jan 12, 3AM and open!)
Truth be told, Kaia hadn’t planned on stopping at the tavern...But neither had she planned for Gypsy to get so tired during the return flight. And it only seemed to worsen as they continued their journey, if the ever-increasing number of close calls was any indication. So, Kaia had glanced over her Nadder’s side to see if there was adequate space for Gypsy to land and get some rest. What good would it be to force her to stay awake? Kaia had breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the clearing and the building within it. Perfect. I can wait in that place while Gypsy rests up. The rogue mused before she turned her attention back to her dragon.
Kaia clicked her tongue, and the dragon lifted her head up in acknowledgment. “See that patch down there? We’re gonna land there.” The only response Gypsy gave was her practically dive-bombing towards the clearing. Kaia however, had only leaned forward and laughed as the duo began their descent. Once on the ground, the fun began. And by fun, that meant “wrangling Gypsy”. The second Kaia had climbed off from her, Gypsy had began to walk around the clearing- not unlike a chicken. Her rider, however, sighed and walked up to her. “Gyp, Gyp. C’mere... Stop fidgeting. Okay listen- go get some rest. Nap, if ya can. Or find some sickly sheep ta eat or whatever. I don’t care, jus’ don’t get caught. And don’t stray too far either. I’ll be here.” Kaia murmured, placing her hands on the sides of Gypsy’s face. The only indication that the Deadly nadder had even been listening to her rider was a slow blink. Kaia smiled, chuckling to herself.
“That’s my girl. Stay safe, yeah?” At that moment, her voice dropped to a whisper. The question was a hushed request from rider to dragon, bordering on pleading. Don’t get too close ta other humans. We’re not all friendly. And make sure you’re not in an area where ya stick out like a sore thumb. However, the words remained unspoken- dying on Kaia’s tongue. She was terrified that even speaking them would bring such a fate into existence. Gypsy, on the other hand, shook her head and huffed. Kaia took that as warning enough and stepped away from Gypsy, who was unfurling her wings to take off.
Violet eyes habitually followed the dragon until Gypsy disappeared, flying into the clouds. Kaia took that as her cue to kill some time. So, she entered the Snuggly Duckling, albeit perplexed at the name choice. However, the perplexment was all but forgotten when violet eyes fell upon the people within. Thieves, drunkards and criminals. Some still conscious, and chugging down pint after pint of their preferred alcohol, others passed out and asleep on the tables or against their drunk companions.
Kaia’s eyes lit up and she beamed to herself. Aha! This is perfect! Granted, the tavern was completely different but it reminded her of the one at home. Therefore, the rogue would be able to blend in just fine. Lazily, she strode over to the bar and hopped on a lone stool. “Two tankards of mead.” She murmured, placing a gold coin on the counter and sliding it over to the barkeep. Tonight was going to be interesting...She could feel it in the air. Being naturally nocturnal, Kaia was wide awake and ready to do...Something, anything...Preferably very soon. Her wild blood dictated as much. Kaia scratched her wrists- glancing around the bar. Anything, or anyone, worth retelling about usually tended to happen at night, when inhibitions were stripped away and the rules began to bend. Reality always seemed to be a little different- especially during the witching hour. Hope it’s “fun” interesting and not “interesting”. Kaia mused as she ran her fingers over another coin. Goddess, wouldn’t that be a waste of a night? Ugh, if that’s the case- spare my boredom and smite me down now.
