It hadn’t been planned for Kaia and Gypsy to make a pit-stop in Alaska of all places. In fact, she had wanted to avoid the snow-covered plains altogether, and continue with their flight by her dragon had other ideas. Gypsy had practically nose-dived towards the snowy plains upon spotting them, much to her rider’s intense distaste. “Gyp!” Kaia whined as her dragon gently placed her on the snow-capped ground, and carefully untangled her talons from her. Immediately, Kaia pulled her scarf over her mouth and nose, and pulled her hood over her head… In addition to pulling her fur collar closer to her neck. Anything to keep the cold from settling in her bones and eating away at her insides- the hungry bastard.
Turning her gaze over to her dragon, an exasperated expression appeared on Kaia’s face. “...Ya kidding.” Gypsy was rolling around in the snow--playfully and in complete bliss-- not unlike a dog. Kaia, however did not share her enthusiasm. “Luna dea da mihi virtutem.” She groaned as she stepped over towards the alabaster dragon, feet sinking somewhat into the snow. “Giuseppe!” Kaia clapped her hands to get her nadder’s attention. It worked for a fleeting second, with Gypsy lifting up her massive head to regard her rider, blink and then return to playing in the snow. Kaia swore under her breath.
“Oh no no no. Giuseppe Riegel Orias- don’t ya dare give me that look. Get over here right now! We don’t have enough provisions ta last through the cold.” Gypsy however, ignored her rider’s concerns, and only continued to roll in the snow. “Fine then. Be like that. I’ll be out huntin’ because someone needs ta be the responsible one!”
Thump.
Kaia’s eyes widened.
Well then. She and Gypsy were no longer alone.
Wonder who else is here…
“Gyp- c’mere. Gimme me a boost?” She murmured and pointed to a large tree, voice dropping to little more than a whisper. Gypsy perked up, and trotted over to Kaia. The dragon unfurled her wings and flapped them, hovering a few meters off the ground. Once she was high enough, Gypsy moved towards her rider, gently using her talons to pick her up and wrap around Kaia’s arms. “Gratias puella.” The rogue murmured, once she was placed on to a branch that was fairly close to the ground. In case we need to flee… Aww, good girl. I’m gonna give ya some extra fish next time we stop at a port. Kaia mused as she gave her dragon a gentle scratch on her cheek.
For now Kaia would remain perched in the tree, fingers hovering, practically itching, over her twins daggers in anticipation as she waited for who, or what, the thump’s source was. Gypsy however, remained on the ground and laid down- pale scales blending almost perfectly with the snow-covered landscape. The one time being albino comes in handy. Ha. Kaia mused, silently noting that Gypsy’s spines were pointed upwards slightly, ready to be thrown if needed. The nadder was acting as a distraction of sorts at the moment, awaiting her rider’s call to attack or flee. And if not, there was always the back-up plan: split up, flee and return to the last place they had seen each other. The two had done this more times than they liked to admit, but Kaia found some form of relief in knowing that. At least she could count on her dragon if all else failed.
Turning her attention back to the clearing, Kaia narrowed her eyes. “Exite, excite.” She murmured, violet gaze scanning the area. “Suus tempus ad ludum ludere. Don’t make me wait too long.”
