[Jan 14th, closed to Marina]
It was a bright and hot day at the ports-markets of Corona. People were bustling all over the place, some buying wares and others selling them… Well, all but one. Kaia had chosen not to participate in the ever-busy markets that day, instead she was sitting on a boardwalk and leaning against the underbelly of her Nadder, who had decided to take a nap. Was it a terrible inconvenience to anyone who wanted to walk in that direction? Yes, absolutely. But was anyone going to wake her up and tell her otherwise? Unless if they wanted to meet the business end of Gyspy’s teeth then no. Her rider however, was oblivious to others’ reactions. Instead Kaia was lazily carving something into a bone, humming an old lullaby from her home under her breath.
The carving was supposed to be her dragon, but instead it resembled… Honestly, she wasn’t entirely sure what the carving resembled. Maybe if I… She mused, and turned the bone on its side as if it would make the image seem clearer to the view. Unfortunately for her, it was in vain. Kaia clicked her tongue in disapproval, frowning. I don’t have any other unmarked bones with me…They’ve all been engraved with runes… She sighed and sensing her rider’s distress, Gypsy stirred. Violet eyes flicked over to the Nadder as a small, affectionate smile appeared on Kaia’s lips. “That’s it; just keep sleeping. Good girl.” The rogue murmured gently and gave Gypsy a quick chin scratch.
Right. Back to the bone.
Kaia held it up close to her eyes, rotating it in her hands. The knife marks hadn’t gotten in too deep- having scratched the surface and just a little further. It was workable, Kaia supposed. Perhaps I shouldn’t carve an individual, maybe do a scene instead. The marketplace and ocean’ll do. As she picked up her knife and began to scratch into the bone, Gypsy shifted again- nearly causing Kaia to make a wrong cut. But this time Gypsy had awoken. She blinked and lifted her great head off the wooden planks, searching for the one who had managed to wake her. Kaia ended up spotting them first instead. “Oh hey princess.” She smiled at Marina, excited to see the pirate again. The drinking game at the Snuggly Duckling had resulted in Kaia gathering a fairly positive opinion of the pirate trio, and so it was no surprise that she wanted to get to know them better.
Gypsy rumbled lowly, then glanced at Kaia as if to ask if she knew the woman. Kaia nodded before turning her attention back to Marina, using her right hand to give Gypsy another chin scratch. “Don’t mind her- Gyp is just tired. Sooo, what brings ya here?”
