(January 29th just beyond the outskirts of Arendelle, dawn. Closed to Audrey.)
Early morning light shone through the trees as Cassandra made her way outside of Arendelle. Birds were beginning their songs for the day and there was an air of tranquility. Cass had always enjoyed this time of day. She was an early riser through and through, getting up at this time nearly every day to train. The dark haired girl had no use for those who couldn't make something out of a morning. Usually, she was alone in these endeavors, but today she wasn't. Audrey had asked for assistance which both baffled and surprised her, seeing as while Cassandra had felt the girl had made an impression on her, she felt that Audrey's skills as a mechanic wasn't quite compatible with hers as a fighter. Still, she was flattered to be asked for specifically.
Cassandra wouldn't dare admit it, but she needed a friend. Ever since arriving, she was so desperate to prove herself, to prove her worth, that she forgot to make friends. It really wasn't her fault, though. Lonliness was her common mood, independence was her default setting. It also didn't help matters that the Suns had been bested by the Thorns and everyone felt demoralized and downtrodden. Still, there were things that had to be done and someone had to carry on. Right now, that looked like it would be her and Audrey.
What they were going to be doing on their little excursion, Cass had no idea. Audrey murmured something about trains and transport and Cass could only guess that it meant making sure deliveries would arrive unhampered or more discreetly. Either way, Cassandra just felt happy to be rought along. She liked Audrey and had felt a kinship with her when they first met. She, too, came from a working class background and knew the struggles of trying to make it. She wasn't a princess who had everything in life handed to her or felt that the whole world needed to know how special she was as if there wasn't someone next to her who had been working hard her whole life!
Cass felt slightly guilty at these thoughts, but wasn't fully sorry for them as she stared at her gauntlet. She was once again in her plain tunic as she felt that her armor would be too bulky for today's trip. It was nice that it forced her to toughen up, but she wanted to reserve it for battle. As they continued on the path out of Arendelle, it had occurred to Cass that she didn't know what they were really up to. And while she enjoyed the silence, Cass was afraid of making it too awkward in the silence of the morning.
"So where are we going exactly?" Cass asked, glancing over at Audrey. "And what exactly will we be up to? I'm not very mechanically minded, I'm afraid." She regretted saying that immediately, as she felt that admitting her lack of knowledge could ruin her chances of accompanying Audrey any further.
"I mean, I could learn," Cass added quickly, looking down at the ground. "I'm a really fast learner. Anyway, does this have anything to do with the intercepted delivery?" She looked over at the metal sticking out of the ground, forming a track. She hadn't noticed it when they left. She was immediately curious about it and knew that no matter what they would be doing, it would be an experience.
