The first true shots of a firearm in the war, and of course it had to be her shooting herself. She kept her hand on the wound, feeling blood seep around her fingers and wick through the cotton of her shirt. Unintentional discharge, what a way to start the war. She raised an eyebrow and shot Cassandra a questioning look when the raven haired woman asked if she was alright. Already, Audrey was starting to feel a little faint. Don't pass out. She told herself, recognizing the signs of blood loss. Passing out means giving in, and we're not going to do that today.
"You mean to tell me you've never seen a gun before?" Audrey's tone was low, hissed through clinched teeth. Not so much condescending as it was full of annoyance that she had done this to herself. "It's like a crossbow, 'cept it shoots bullets instead of arrows, and it's much more...Fhiisssss....brutal."
The girl's body waved side to side, as she fought the urge to sleep. Glancing over at her arm, she slowly released her hand from the wound. It was a clear shoot, thankfully the bullet had ripped through the limb, leaving a deep furrow of torn flesh in it's wake, rather then embedding itself in her. It was nasty looking, but it was a glancing blow. Audrey shook her head, then with a great struggle pulled herself to her knees. Her clothing sopping wet from the stream. She clamped her eyes shut and bit her trembling lower lip. Putting the intense pain to the back of her head, and focusing on the situation.
"Look, we haven't much time. We need to make a tourniquet and stop the bleeding. Otherwise I'mma pass out from bloodloss," Her eyes opened, blinking quickly as she looked up at the railroad grade. "Then, we have to get back up there. I can still walk, and as long as the bleeding stops, I can travel."
Where could they go? There was Madge Honey Badger, the army doctor. But questions might be asked which she wasn't really prepared to answer. Never-mind the pure embarrassment at having shot herself. There was the young man with his white egg-shaped medical airship/robot....thing. Yes, that might be their best option.
"There's this kid back in Arendelle, he's got this medical...thing...I think that might be the best ifin we can et back to Arendelle before nightfall," the engineer's eyes grew soft for a second, and she cocked her mouth in a look of trepidation. "Look, I'm really relying on you now. I really don't want to die from this. So...I trust you, 'kay."
