ooc: Open to everyone! Feb. 5, early afternoon
bic: Twelve days. Twelve days since he and Chauncey had entered this most peculiar merging of worlds. Suffice to say he was still so very much new to this rather drastic change in scenery and it likely showed in a lot of the questionable choices he had been making ever since first entering this world. Still, he wasn't totally blind to everything happening around him and he liked to think himself a pretty fast learner. 'course having an army of spying native insects at his disposal and being able to understand them certainly helped him quite a bit. He just had to make sure Chauncey didn't get too jealous. Then again this wouldn't be the first time Karl used multiple insects to aid him in one of his schemes and Chauncey understood then just as he thankfully seemed to be understanding now.
Indeed, it was actually thanks to this very army of termites that Karl and Chauncey now found themselves in the middle of the cold, lonely Outlands. The termites led them to a real dump of a place too. Not only did the place seemed to be a bit low on...life, but it was just covered in prickly, scratchy thorns. The annoying things seemed to be everywhere! In fact, you couldn't walk two feet without running into a pile of prickly thorns. Any sane person would have probably just turned back around and gone back home upon seeing the Outlands in such a state of disrepair. But oh no not Karl. Karl wasn't exactly what a trained mental health professional would coin as sane and so there he remained happily in the Outlands. Giddy even for the termites recommended he come here for a reason and that reason was to test out his latest laser design on the thorns here. Okay so he did have something of a point of being there and it wasn't totally crazy either. Still, the annoying prickly thorns weren't the only dangers the Outlands had to offer. Thankfully, true to his nature, Karl did plan ahead for these...added dangers should they ever rear their ugly head. But, the mentally unstable fanaloka wasn't really thinking about all that right now. He was much more concerned with testing out his new weapon on the prickly thorns, so he may see if it worthy enough to sell to potential customers or not.
The fanaloka with Chauncey riding on his shoulder, climbed up onto a nearby rock to better position himself and to get away from the thorns since the rock seemed pretty clear of them. Pulling out a pair of binoculars, Karl scanned the land around him. "You see that Chauncey?" Karl said sharing his binoculars with his number one insect. "Those termites weren't kidding! This place is just crawling with thorns! It's...it's...perfect! Just absolutely beautiful, Chauncey! The perfect place to test out my latest laser!" Lowering his binoculars, Karl pulled out his laser and held it out. "Isn't she a beaut, Chaunc? She looks like a regular ax, but press this button annnnnd presto she's a laser. Now I haven't come up with a name yet, but trust me it's gonna be big! Really big in the farming community and in places like this where weeds and thorns grow like crazy. Trust me, if this test succeeds we will be set for a good long while." The roach simply hissed in reply. He seemed content in just supporting his master for now; which Karl liked. Karl simply smiled at his tiny friend. "Cross your fingers Chaunc," Karl informed his tiny friend as he positioned the stealthy laser gun which really did look a lot like a regular gardening ax.
After making some adjustments to the laser's sights, Karl took aim at a nearby pile of thorns and slowly he squeezed the trigger and fired at the pile. Sadly, it missed the planned target completely hitting instead the pile directly to the left of it. Understandably Karl was annoyed and disappointed with himself. "Damn it! It pulled too much to the left! I hate it when that happens!" Karl hissed in frustration under his breath. He pulled out a notepad and jotted down something. "It needs some adjusting, but with the right adjustments made it should work," Karl told Chauncey who had been quietly watching his master work in anticipation the whole time.
The fanaloka took out some tools and using a wrench made a quick adjustment. "Maybe this'll do the trick." Once again, the fanaloka took aim at the previously targeted pile of thorns and squeezing the trigger fired decimating the pile. "Haha success!" Karl declared with a small satisfied smile. The roach meanwhile, hissed happy and proud of his master's success. Truly, his master was indeed an unappreciated genius.
Having feelings of excitement following his success, however, Karl started to get a little trigger happy in his weapon testing as he started blasting every single thorn patch in his sights while laughing like a nut. 'Oh boy,' thought Chauncey. 'Here we go again!' He had seen his master like this before and truth be told the end result usually wasn't pretty. So the little insect crawled off his master's shoulder to take cover underneath the rock the crazed fanaloka was perched on. Luckily, they seemed to be all alone out there for the time being anyway otherwise there was always the off chance of an unfortunate getting hit by a stray laser beam.
