(January 14th, directly after The Art of Welcoming. Closed to Mufasa and Rani)
Kion raced through the forest, knowing that the cub was right behind him. What happened just now in the Pridelands had shaken him up. What eventually happened, the other lioness running away and the eventual disbursing of all parties, was for the best but Kion couldn't help but feel guilty. They shouldn't of been out there, he shouldn't of engaged. This day which at first started out so nice, was quickly turning into a different monster entirely. That wasn't even addressing the issue of seeing a real life Thorn for the first time, in the flesh. One of the lionesses he'd face sooner or later. Kion felt slightly bad for her as it wasn't Vitani's fault that she was born into the wrong pride.
And still there was the issue of Rani following close behind. She said she had to speak to Mufasa, and Ono had backed that claim up. She was no doubt unhappy with how things went. Kion couldn't understand why she would want to be friends with Vitani or why Rani was so upset about the treatment of her. Clearly this new cub didn't understand the way things worked. But still, there was an admirable quality to that as well. Rani carried herself the way Kiara did, with too much responsibility for a single cub to weigh on their shoulders. He pitied that and while Kion himself was still searching for his place, he was glad that it wasn't that.
Soon enough, he was reaching the clearing where his family lived. After seeing their old home, he couldn't help but see it as a downgrade. However, he wasn't there to compare dens; they were on a mission. "Grandpa!" Kion yelled, rushing into the clearing. "Grandpa! We need you! It's important!" There was almost an informality to it. If it were any other member of the Suns, there might've been some hesitation, a thought of whether the matter was important enough to bring before the king. But for Kion, such informality didn't exist. He might as well be asking a simple question.
"We're here," Kion said to Rani, giving her a sideways glance. He hoped that this would all end well and maybe make their army stronger. Kion wouldn't even object to a little praise about the matter. But he was getting ahead of himself. Right now, the priority was to make Mufasa aware of Rani's message. And maybe also let him know that the Thorns were getting more courageous. But for right now, getting Mufasa's attention was what was the most important thing on his mind.
