A day or two after the arrival of the group from Arendelle. Open to Belle and Lady at first, however, if others wish to participate. Then by all means.
Sunlight streamed through the draped windows in great beams of light, illuminating traces of dust as the particles floated and weaved in the air. There was a coolness to the room that even with the fire in a nearby hearth, the room was just too big to be well heated. Especially now that winter was here. Lady's black nose twitched as the fresh scents of chaired wood joined but another familiar smell: leather, pasteboard, glue, ink, old paper, and dust. It was a smell she knew well, and alongside curiosity brought forth a feeling of home. It was the same smells that marked Jim Dear's study.
However, this room was four times the size of her master's private bibliotheca. The room echoed faintly with her footsteps. Soft padding of small paws with the occasional click of a nail. The cocker spaniel's head was craned, her brown eyes rewarded with one of the sweetest of sights that sent her tail into a tan furred blur. Hundreds and hundreds of books. Before her stood one of the largest libraries she could have ever dreamed of seeing. She had no idea there were this many books capable of being brought together in one place. Her head slowly turning as she took in all before her, she struggled for a moment to find words. All that could have come to mind at first was simply,
"Oh! My goodness."
Lady was a working dog within the Suns. However that made her no less intelligent. Both her and her mate where capable of reading. Something a lot of street dogs lacked. She had been sure that her pups also were given the gift of literacy. She started to turn in a circle so that she could see every wall, all of them covered with shelves, taking in the two stories worth of books, complete with winding ladders leading up to the highest shelves. Before being sent to Fort Chambrod, she had been given a small list of tasks. Her use as a working dog would not be neglected. One of which was to pursue a number of titles from the extensive library.
The spaniel padded over to were a number of couches and comfortable chairs were placed next to the great windows. A huge desk was set up with books and paper and ink and quills. Here she dropped her head down and slid out from underneath a set of canvas saddle bags. Flipping one of the flaps open with the end of her nose, she dove her muzzle in to fumble around. Hunting for something. Those long soft ears spilling out around her head. Finally, she emerged from the depth of the bags, a bit of parchment in place. Written on it where a number of titles. Books on war, tactics, some history, and something called an Kamasutra, whatever that was.
The graceful canine hopped up onto her hind legs, standing before one of the tables. She raised her head and placed her fore-paws on the table edge, then dropped the roll of parchment.
"Okay," She said warmly, before 'bopping' the roll open with the tip of her soft nose. Her chocolaty eyes dancing down the row of titles. "Where to start?"
