Jim Hawkins the basics James P. Hawkins• nicknames • Lad, Cabin Boy, Jimbo, Jimmy age • 16 primary standing • Enchanted Suns Trainee secondary standing • Captain Amelia’s Assistant faction • Enchanted Suns species • Human gender • Male sexuality •Heterosexual the appearance origin • Treasure Planet overall appearance • Jim is a pale teenager of average but athletic build with dark brown hair, worn in curtains at the front and shaved into a small rat tail style at the base of his neck. He has large dark eyes, heavy brows, and wears a tan shirt with darker trousers and capable space-faring boots. the personality overall personality • Jim is a curious problem-solver who tends to mask his bright, adventurous potential with a prickly attitude and careless outlook on life. This mostly stems from his father abandoning him before Jim could even make it in time to say goodbye, leaving Jimb doubting that he is capable of succeeding at anything and wondering what he’s worth. This is in spite of immense natural talent, creativity and an agile mind. Nowadays Jim is more hopeful, having proven himself during the Treasure Olanet ordeal. Instead of sulking around with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove, Jim is more competitive. Now that he’s discovered for himself that he’s capable, he can’t wait to get out and test his limits. Jim can be stubborn, hotheaded, and hates to lose at anything. He would rather brood and internalize than understand his own feelings. He is very loyal and protective, and underneath the identity-struggle of the common teenager is the compassionate heart of a hero. the history overall history • Jim was born to Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins at the Benbow Inn on the planet Montressor. His father was a merchant on the spacing ships and his mother ran the Inn. Jim enjoyed a happy childhood, adventurous and incredibly smart. He loved to hear stories of Treasure Planet and pirates and legendary spacers. One day, Jim’s father left, abandoning the family. Jim raced to the edge of the pier to try and stop his father, or say goodbye, but he didn’t quite make it in time and never saw his father again. For the next six years Jim felt like he wasn’t really there, didn’t from his mother who struggled to keep the Inn afloat. He wrestled with feeling like nothing mattered, and not believing he himself had any future or potential. If his own father didn’t see any reason to stay...if he couldn’t even convince the man who was supposed to be there for him that he was worth something...then was he? So Jim flunked classes, avoided his mother, and spent most of his time trying to avoid everything on his solar surfer. It got him into plenty of trouble with the authorities. He was going nowhere fast when helping a dying traveler named Billy Bones led him to the map to Treasure Planet. Pirates attacked his mother’s Inn looking for the thing. Jim and his mother Sarah fled to the home of their good friend, esteemed scholar Dr. Delbert Doppler. He financed an expedition for Jim and himself to go to Treasure Planet, have the adventure of a lifetime, hold a place among the historical explorers, and become filthy rich in the process. Jim felt a ray of hope at finally doing something right, something worthwhile. The crew Delbert hired were surly, difficult, and disreputable. But he managed to get two things right. One was the First Mate he hired, Mr. Arrow, a huge rocky alien able to keep the crew in line. The second was Captain Amelia, crown jewel of the Royal Armada. She and Delbert initially held each other in contempt but throughout the adventure the strong personalities began falling for one another. Jim, meanwhile, befriended John Silver, working under him as cabin boy. He was a cyborg, but cooled Jim’s suspicions by being charming and attentive. He saved Jim from starting a brawl with dangerous crew mate Scroop, and from then on the two became closer and closer. Jim started to look to Silver as a friend and even a role model, like the father who hadn’t stayed. Silver, who was really a space pirate leading the treacherous crew to Treasure Planet, began having a soft spot for the body. He believed in Jim and even reignited the lad’s hope after a terrible misadventure with a Black Hole caused the boy to lose Mr. Arrow to the abyss. When Silver finally did lead the mutiny on Captain Amelia over Treasure Planet, Jim and his friends escaped to the surface and met BEN, a robot who knew where the treasure was. When they got there, both the pirates and heroes realized that Flint, late owner of the treasure, had rigged the planet to explode at the first sign of intruders. Jim was actually rescued in the chaos by Silver, who chose the safety of the boy over the gold he!d searched so long for. It was also Silver who believed in Jim at the crucial moment, enough to give the lad a chance to open a portal and save not only himself, but the ship and entire crew from the exploding planet. All of Silver’s dastardly minions were taken to prison, but Jim allowed Silver to escape, and they parted as friends. Silver even gave Jim a parting gift of gems and gold to rebuild his mother’s inn. Captain Amelia recommended him to the Royal Navy, and Jim was celebrated briefly at home before shipping out to the Interstellar Academy. Jim was determined to prove he could keep this ‘winning streak’ up and rattle the stars his own way, as Silver had encouraged him. But no sooner had his education gotten underway than a war merged the worlds. Jim was anxious to get out and be part of this new adventure, but he had a duty to finish his schooling. He was just contemplating ditching entirely and abandoning the Academy to explore when word came that Captain Amelia was at the front, and sending for him. Eager to go, Jim packed his solar surfer and a laser pistol and headed out to make a name for himself. the role player alias • Maxine age • pronouns • She, her how did you find us? • Spot other characters •Colleen, Lady Tremaine, Ariel, Hook, Jaribu, Nick Wild, Pleakley, Mrs. Potts, Vitani, Shan Yu, Spooky 300, Slushy 523, Jim Hawkins |
