She had just exited an abusive relationship and wanted to start her new life with something meaningful. It came in the form of the boy calf. Even though he and his coyote mother looked nothing alike they could not have been closer as mother and son. Joe did everything for her son and even though she may not have been able to spoil with luxury of wealthy upbringing still gave him the best she could. When he reached twelve years of age Mason helped his mother in buying the run down house just outside their town near an old farm. After realizing his mother's wish to own a Bed and Breakfast, the calf started to find work to help get money to pitch in. He found all sorts of odd jobs from helping grocery owner with unloading shipments to working on impossible tractors for the farms. When he finally had enough, a large glass mason jar filled with loose change, he presented it to his mother relishing in the joy that spread across her face and spilled from her eyes. At age seventeen, his actions also caused his mother the loss of her beloved BB. An unruly gang had moved into the town, claiming one of the old warehouses as their place of operations. And what was their area of expertise? Auto-theft. Disguised as an auto-repair shop the gang would commit hits on high profile vehicles, take them back to the shop, scrap or alter them, then sell them for a lofty price. In the city this worked well and they thought to expand their reach with the rural country town. For a boy who had an interest in cars, Mason made quick friends and was readily accepted into their ranks. He had kept this side of his dealings from his mother, only saying "I was able to get more work at the farm" when he handed her his share of the stolen profits. And when he returned home with blackened eyes and bloodied lips he'd shrug her off and say "it's nothing". Slowly, more and more, Joe worried about the secret life her son was keeping from her as he came home with more scars and piercings, and even a tattoo, but whenever she pressed he would just shrug her aside and act like nothing had happened. The money he'd give her to help keep their small piece of heaven was no longer a small evil she could ignore and decided to talk to him regardless when he returned home that evening. Except, morning found her still waiting. Frantic with worry, Joe went to the local authorities asking for their help in finding her son. She knew something had happened; August always returned home to his mother every night unless otherwise informed. Never had he gone more than a couple hours past his expected arrival. Several hours into the search they found the boy on the side of the road leading out of town, bloodied and unresponsive. After waking several days later from his coma Mason couldn't remember what happened, all he could tell them was they had targeted a family who was well off but one that Mason knew more personally. There had been a small altercation between the bull and the gang's leader but it had ended at the shop, with Mason staying behind. His ending up in the ditch a complete mystery; it was the last straw. Joan packed up her things, posted her dream house for sale, and moved with her still recovering son from the small town to the bustling city of Zootopia. She wanted to put as much distance between the only family she had and the devils that had almost taken him from her. For the next five years of his life, Mason tried to stay out of trouble as he helped his mother in their new city life. It was daunting at first but he felt he owed her a debt that couldn't be paid back. He got a job working as a cook for the diner she was employed at, splitting the bills between their paychecks. On occasion, the bull would find an odd job here or there doing some mechanical work on a car owned by a regular to the diner, or finding some temporary work as a bouncer for a local club. Still country in the soul, the city life was starting to feel more natural to them. Mason was finally able to feel relaxed as he watched his mother dance to a song when she cleaned the rooms of the hotel, or the way she would laugh when they went to movie and he'd get emotional over a touching scene. Everything was starting to become as it had been, when the world suddenly turned. the Role play sample Sample is mandatory for new members. the role player alias • RedoftheWolf, Redwolf, Red age • 27 pronouns • She/her how did you find us? • through ad, friend, etc. We'll just like to know!
