(January 19th, about 11pm in a....let’s say shady part of the city, open to anyone who would be in Paris!)
“Graaaaarouuuu” The loud, disgruntled roar broke the silence that had been blanketing the mostly quiet street. Though there were echoes of some commotion coming from inside the buildings – bars no doubt – the street the bounty hunter and her dragon currently strolled down was empty, and therefore quiet outside of the complaining of the large and out-of-place dragon.
“Will you keep it down, you overgrown bug?” The crimson-haired sharpshooter hissed, breaking off a piece of jerky she’d bought from a street vendor not too long ago and popping it into her mouth. “I know it’s not fresh, but it’ll have to do for tonight.” She insisted, mouth full of the dry, salted meat.
Skaði huffed, exhaling a puff of smoke from her nostrils, a clear signal of her state of discontent. "grrrrrrrrough" the dragon muttered shortly.
“I’ll get you something fresher tomorrow, but we weren’t going to find anything better this late. Now eat.” She demanded holding out more jerky for her, navy eyes narrowing to show her dragon she was serious.
Skaði’s eyes narrowed in kind, and she quickly snapped the dried meat from Scarlett’s hands, nearly taking a finger with her, before chewing it at a dramatically slow pace.
“Drama queen.” The bounty hunter muttered, breaking off another piece for herself.
She’d arrived at the Black Keep earlier that evening, Skaði’s flight making the journey easy enough, but her dragon quickly grew antsy. Skaði wasn’t built for castles and neither the dragon nor her rider liked to be separated, so keeping her outside wasn’t an option. So, Scarlett agreed to a late-night trip. She’d been told that Paris was a territory controlled by the leader of their army, and figured that was as good a place to be as any.
She wasn’t exactly impressed with the city, nor was Skaði, but then neither of them were city girls, they were forest-dwellers at heart. The bounty hunter wouldn’t be surprised if she got roped into taking a trip to the nearest wood before the month was over.
Still, the trip wasn’t an entire waste. In addition to giving Skaði a chance to stretch her wings, Scarlett had stocked up on arrows of all sorts. It wasn’t easy to find someone open this late, but Scarlett had always been good at sniffing out the shady parts of any given town, and Paris was no exception. The street was lined with bars, pawn shops, and weapons dealers of all sorts, open until all hours. Much as Scarlett was loath to admit it, these were her people, the types she was used to dealing with and the types she fit in best with.
A gentle bump to her side caught her attention and the huntress turned her head slightly to see Skaði staring at her with a meaningful look. It lasted for only a moment however, before the dragon opened her mouth and stuck her tongue out, proudly showing that she’d eaten all of the disgusting treat.
Scarlett huffed out a reluctant laugh at the dragon’s antics, her previous thoughts forgotten. “What do you want, a medal?” She asked, gently shoving the dragons head away. “Close your mouth before you catch flies, you animal.”
Suddenly, a switch was flipped in both females as they stiffened. The keen senses in the pair of huntresses activated as someone approached. Skaði huffed and scraped the ground with her right front leg while Scarlett unsheathed her crossbow from her back, finger hovering over the trigger as she prepared to aim if need be “Who’s there?” She demanded in a gruff voice.
