The sounds of the surrounding nature hummed and swayed but it was nearly all drowned out from the scene before the alpha dragon. Glorious moonlight filtered along the duo of darkness and light, nearly breathtaking in their sheer appearance to one such as Toothless. The Light Fury’s near ethereal scales shone with vibrancy unfounded within the land, the shimmer nearly blinding even in such obscuring night. Nova was swathed in a sheet of satin, soft and churning and sparse dots of stars parting the entirety of the abyss. It was beautiful, to say the least and Toothless as teetering on the stability of keeping them with him. He yearned to keep them safe, to tuck them into his sanctuary and see them always but it was clear their trauma was quite strong and he couldn’t fault them one bit, however he sought to show them the light of his life.
Hiccup grunted from the weight of the Night Fury atop him, his body still heaving with each pant due to the exertion of running there but he attempted to quiet his sounds for fear it’ll disturb them. Eyes of grass-green look toward each dragoness, hearing their words as his facial nubs twitched ever so slightly.
‘No tricks,’ he softly uttered out, not missing her gentle words of considering his offer. It wasn’t a ‘yes’, and as much as he wished to have heard those affirming words he nodded towards her, respecting her choice. The moon doused girl seemed softer, less scarred from the tragedies of the world while he could nearly taste the sorrow Nova had radiating from her like lilac plasma. As her voice howled out in warbling notes, he shifted his gaze and listened, unsure what to expect. He visually slackened, blinking in appreciation to her words of believing him and he smiled despite the situation, clearly thankful.
The duo, somewhat peacefully and with such notions Toothless recoiled atop his haunches, abandoning Hiccup to his position only to plant his tail against his back as if to keep him down and prone. Body language spoke eons to dragons, Toothless knew Hiccup knew this and so with that encouragement Hiccup rolled to his back to expose his stomach. He yanked out his knife from his arm and even his bladeless sword and chucked it towards the nearby bushes before remaining sprawled along his spine, facing the stars. Toothless blinked calmly towards the human before looking towards Nova.
‘For one… That’s why he’s different,’ Toothless indicated, knowing he didn’t even have to tell Hiccup to do the routine. Hiccup did something very similar their first meeting and to see it again was nostalgic. ‘He and his people used to be killed and attacked by dragons but instead of killing me when he had the chance, he chose to keep me alive and we became friends,’ Toothless smiled in thought, fond of the memories. ‘There are far too many stories to repeat but… You can just tell his heart is different, there’s this feeling in humans that you can… feel, all good ones have it like a taste upon your tongue,’ gestured the Night Fury, speaking weird words of wisdom for such a usually goofy boy. Perhaps it was the feeling of an alpha’s authority, but good humans had good feelings. You just had to be able to concentrate and tell.
