(January 10th, just after dusk - on the hill overlooking the town. Open to anyone!)
This new world was much larger alright. Filled to the brim with unknown creatures and places beyond anything Nova could have imagined. Yet of course, such came with new threats as well. Sure, many of the creatures she had met so far were not so bad. Even that little human hatchling had been admittedly...harmless. Not that she ever thought human hatchlings were particularly capable, she was just always on edge that they never seemed to be left alone. It was the older humans that were not to be trusted. Mother had always told her, after all, that the closer one got to the human hatchling, the more likely the human would be to kill them. Sure, she understood that - her mother would attack anything that threatened them, after all. However, she never went right for the kill, unless it clearly meant to kill them. Humans were just vicious and cruel. Their hatchlings obviously just did not get caught to hate the dragons so much before then. Maybe it was something they grew into. Perhaps that was why Anya had so suddenly turned on her. It was something that just hit them all of a sudden, or something to be caught from other humans like a disease.
Shuddered at the thoughts that invaded her mind, Nova huffed a sigh. At least, she got as close to a sigh as she could manage with a mouthful of now stilled fish. She had risked her safety long enough to hunt in the lakes below, yet she did not plan to stay there too long. It was too low and too open. Instead, she retreated to a forested hill to eat. The trees were far sparser than the forest she had first taken flight into where she met than hatchling and the moonlight dragon. However, it felt safer than the open shore of a lake with the human town right beside it.
Moving into a slightly thicker area of trees with more foliage, Nova dropped her fish with a huff and settled down. She made sure to keep her back to the foliage and her gaze facing the town as she ate. She did not feel safe here. However, she did not want to fly further with her food, and she definitely had not wanted to eat it there. Instead she would simply keep her wits about her, not turn her back away from the town below at the lights still shone through the little holes in the sides, signaling to her it was far from safe to venture. Humans liked dark whilst they slept, and light whilst they were awake. Quite different from the dragoness herself, who lurked and hunted in the shadows. After lying prone and silent a moment longer, Nova set about eating her fish. At least one good thing came of these creatures, and she felt no shame in stealing it for herself. It was only the tiniest sliver of what they deserved from her kind, after all.
