But despite her upbringing, she typically does not behave like royalty, due to her spending most of her life in an orphanage in rural Russia, and as such possesses tomboy-esque tendencies and is known to be a bit of a fighter. Despite this, she is still serious-minded and possesses a rather high level of tenacity. Once she sets a goal for herself, Anastasia sticks with it until satisfied with her own success (or complete), despite her insecurities. Additionally, she is naturally independent, and has no problem speaking her mind or standing up for herself (see: roasting Dimitri). But as mentioned above, she can be insecure and shy at times, leading her to hesitate and doubt herself. the history overall history • The fourth daughter and fourth child of Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Aleksandra, Anastasia was born into a life of complete luxury and elegance. Her world revolved around the imperial court and more significantly, taking care of her haemophiliac brother- Tsaroveich Alexei- with her sisters. In a bid to cure her sick son, the Tsarina invited a holy monk into the court, resulting in said monk being banished for treason after attempting to court the Tsarina. Anastasia, didn't think much of it, as she and her siblings had been told little to no information about what happened in order to avoid alarming them. In 1916, when Anastasia was eight, everything changed. At first, the night had started off well. The Tsar held a ball in Catherine Palace to celebrate the Romanovs' three hundred year reign. His mother, Marie Feodorovna, had been visiting from Paris and gave the young Anastasia a music box and necklace as parting gifts, to ease the separation. Then he entered and placed a curse onto House Romanov, dooming them all. Within the fortnight, majority of the imperial family were captured and executed. All except two; Marie and Anastasia, who escaped with the aid of a servant boy during the siege of the palace. Rasputin confronted them outside a frozen river, only to fall through a hole in the ice and drown. The royals somehow managed to reach a train, but it was only Marie who managed to climb aboard. Anastasia, however, fell and hit her head on the platform which caused her to suffer amnesia. Ten years later, Russia had fallen under communist rule whilst Marie offered a 10 million ruble reward for the safe return of her daughter. Anastasia, now eighteen and still suffering from amnesia, and going by "Anya", left the orphanage where she grew up in to search for her family, believing them to be in Paris due to the inscription on her necklace. Accompanied by a stray to the train station, Anya discovered she was unable to leave Russia without travel papers. A stranger, overhearing her plight, advised her to see the conman Dimitri and his partner at the abandoned palace, in order for Anya to get her visa. After exploring the ballroom and palace, all three parties came across each other. Beyond impressed by her resemblance to the Duchess, the con-men struck an arrangement with her; they would take her to Paris with them and teach her how to act like the Duchess to receive the reward whereas she would travel to Paris to find her family. Unbeknownst to them, Rasputin sent out his minions twice to kill her- absolutely enraged to discover Anastasia was very much alive. Unfortunately for him, both attempts failed. Eventually, the trio reached Paris- with Anya being questioned by Marie's cousin Sophie (despite Marie having given up) to confirm Anya's identity as Anastasia. Thanks to the tutelege of Vladimir and Dimitri, she answered every single question practically flawlessly. But then Sophie threw a spanner in the works via asking how she survived. Though vaguely, Anya recalled how a palace boy helped her escape the palace siege via a door, causing Dimitri to realise she is the real Anastasia as he was the servant boy who helped her. Subsequently Sophie was also convinced and arranged a meeting with Marie at the Opera. However Marie refused to see Anastasia, having heard of his scheme to con her and receive the reward. However, Anastasia overheard the conservation and after an ugly fight with Dimitri, she left the Opera. After kidnapping Marie and showing her the music box she had gave to Anastasia a decade ago, Marie finally spoke with her granddaughter. Initially, Marie perceived her to be an imposter, only to be surprised as Anastasia regained her memories as the two conversed. Unsurprisingly, Anastasia convinced the Dowager empress of her identity after the two sung their lullaby, and thus joyfully reunited. The following day, Marie offered Dimitri the reward, recognising him as the servant boy who saved them. Much to her surprised, he refused and left for Russia. At the celebration dedicated for her granddaughter's return, Anastasia informed her what Dimitri had done, leaving her conflicted between staying or leaving with him. However, Pooka fleeing prevented her from making her decision. Without thinking, she chased her dog, only to be attacked by Rasputin who was hellbent on finally fulfilling his curse. Miraculously, Dimitri returned to save her but was knocked unconscious during the fight. In the struggle, Anastasia managed to acquire Rasputin's reliquary and crush it, avenging her family while Rasputin disintegrated and died. Again. Eventually, Anastasia and Dimitri reconciled, eloping. A few years later, news of the War reached them. Against Dimitri's advice, Anastasia joined the war on the side of the Guilded Wings- compelled to help the people as opposed to furthering the cause of the Thorns and Suns. the role player alias • portal age • 17 pronouns • she/her how did you find us? • i was adopted by minky and noly other characters • Kaia + Gypsy and Izzy |
