(January 8th, early morning, just within the Great Forest not far from the Outlands - open to anyone)
It had been a blessing to be under the cover of trees once more. Having been raised in a thick jungle full of life, travelling through the Outlands had been a terribly foreign experience, one that left Iniya uneasy, and Surya wary by extension. A dry and barren land with no cover, filled with deadly thorns and deadened trees. They had been lucky enough whenever they found water or a small, almost meatless meal. They did not have time to linger, and for that Iniya had been glad. It was still Cursed Thorns territory, no matter that it was abandoned to seemingly soulless scavengers with no place left to go. They may not hold much of a presence there, hence why it hit her as the safest place to exit their lands, but the three of them still had to be cautious.
It was a wonder she managed to keep Jamini close by at all, but perhaps the young pup had still been aware they were not safe their either, that the danger within the jungle expanded into the thorn-filled reaches of the Outlands. However, the moment they crossed from barren and open, to the sheltered covering of a welcoming forest, the tune seemed to have changed. Iniya had felt no less wary, but perhaps her relief at being out of the open had ebbed into misunderstanding for the young pup. If they had not been so tired from their travels, then perhaps the pup would have been dashing off through the woods as though it were the safest place in the world. It would not be long, though, before she had the energy and drive to do just that.
Now soft morning light filtered through the canopy above, and something nudged Iniya incessantly awake. Peeking an eye open slightly, Iniya blinked a golden eye at the soft light, letting it adjust enough to tell that it was still only first light, before she let it fall closed again with a huff. "No, we're not playing right now. Its too early." The night before they had found an abandoned fox hole big enough to house them, dug under the roots of a large tree, and she had gladly collapsed there to sleep after hunting for their supper. She had even had to rouse Surya back awake to groggily eat some food when she had gotten back, so there was no denying they were all tired. How they had the energy to want to play right now was beyond her, but pups always were a special brand of wolf.
"Mini is gone again." That got the young female's attention, and this time both eyes blinked open, head angling to eye Surya in the hopes he was kidding. The little male's own golden amber eyes were wide with worry, and her own took on an exasperated tinge. "Not again. Sometimes I wonder if we ought to tether you two together." Sighing softly, Iniya crawled her way out from the den, blinking at the invasive sunlight, before turning her head to ensure Surya was close to her side. Now that she was a little more awake, the gravity of the situation settled on her mind, and she refused to lose both pups. They may be out of Cursed Thorn territory now, to the best of her knowledge at least, but they were still in unfamiliar land. Who knew what dangers lay in wait for them. In a sense, it was more dangerous for her to wander here than the jungle - at least there they had more eyes to look out for her, and their threats were identified.
"Jamini, come on back now! You don't want to miss breakfast do you?" she called, voice flowing clear but gently. She did not want to upset Surya after all, for a missing pup and a scared pup would do her even less good. That, and she knew it was easier to bribe the adventurous scamp back than to try and order it. "Come on Sunshine, let's go find that naughty sister of ours." A slight laugh masked her worry, but her ears slipped back slightly as she lowered her muzzle, sniffing around the den to pick up Jamini's scent. 'Please don't be getting yourself into trouble Mini.' Catching a trail pretty easily, a relieved its freshness meant she can't have gone far, Iniya began leading the way along the trail with ears warily pricked and eyes scanning. No immediate danger did not mean they were safe, and she would feel far more concerned once she knew where her little sister was.
