He made a living as a traveling street performer alongside his friend Zozi, spreading tall tales of how the bat was a hero able to defeat monsters and dragons and save entire villages. Eventually, they found themselves in Moscow, where their performance was well-received, even grabbing the attention of Prince Ivan to the annoyance of his assistant Ludmilla. Prince Ivan was later found missing, and two children nominated Bartok to find him. Bartok was reluctant to do so. He could tell stories of his heroism all he wanted, but he very well knew there was little truth to them. Despite his self-doubt, he could not bring himself to say no to the children. So, he agreed and was escorted to the edge Iron forest, where he was told the evil witch Baba Yaga lived. It was believed the witch must have taken the prince as she had left behind an iron tooth. Bartok eventually finds the witches hut and goes inside to confront her. Baba Yaga admits that she knows where the prince is, but will not reveal his location until Bartok can prove himself worthy. She sends the bat on three quests, all of which were completed successfully. Using the ingredients he had collected for her as well as one of his tears, she creates him a potion. The potion was to make his physical form display what is in his heart, tenfold. She also reveals she did not kidnap Prince Ivan, and that the prince had been trapped in a tall well tower in Moscow. Upon realizing it had been Ludmilla who had trapped Prince Ivan in the tower, Bartok became a target. Ludmilla successfully stuck him in the tower as well and stole the magic potion. The tower began to flood, but with help from Zozi, Bartok was able to escape. Prince Ivan, however, was still trapped inside. Ludmilla had drank the potion, thinking it would make her 10x more beautiful. Though the medicine instead turned her into a dragon that reflected the beast she was inside. Upon this realization, she went on a rampage, setting Moscow alight with her fiery breath. Bartok directed Zozi to get the prince out of the tower while he took care of the rampaging dragon. He defeated Ludmilla through tricking her into climbing the tower, which crumbled under her weight, allowing the water inside free to flood the streets and kill the lingering flames. Ludmilla was then crushed under debris. Zozi had helped the prince make it out safely, and Bartok was named a hero of Moscow. Bartok was able to keep in touch with Baba Yaga, being one of the few ever to show her compassion. He was even able to snag potions from her now and again, at the cost that he gathered the ingredients. These potions included a youth potion and a few others. He found magic and potions fascinating, even if he didn’t fully understand them. He wanted to though, mostly so he could show off cool magic tricks. Baba Yaga wasn’t interested in teaching though, warning that if it was not done with good intentions, the results could be disastrous. Bartok did not heed warning however and sought out others who knew a thing or two about it. This adventure did not lead him to the best of people, rather, those who brought out the worst in him. He ended up assisting a mad monk by the name of Rasputin in bringing devastation to Russia. He made sure the madman’s curse was successful and would report in as events unfolded. The curse that would eventually lead to the demise of the royal family, at least it was supposed to. During the chaos, his master drowned, and Bartok figured that was that. He no longer had to worry about much of anything but watching the cursed relic, which laid dormant for years. He was glad too; the bat was done with magic at this point. He didn’t seem to get anything out of this, and began to believe that Baba Yaga may have been right about the whole thing. But one day, the Reliquary was able to sense the soul of Anastasia, the grand duchess who had apparently been able to escape. It suddenly woke up and dragged Bartok into limbo, back into the hands of Rasputin. After several failed attempts to end the Grand Duchess, Bartok began to get annoyed, not grasping why Rasputin was so fixated on the girl’s demise. In the end, he refused to help, watching his master die for a second time. After the unnerving series of events, Bartok decided to travel once more, just as he had done with Zozi long ago. He did not know if what awaited him was going to be good or bad. Maybe he could catch up with some old friends? Maybe he’d find himself caught up in a war? Well, he found himself in the latter situation. As of now, Bartok is reluctant to join either side and watches from the sidelines. That could always change in the future, however. At this point he's pretty used to things taking an unexpected turn. the Role play sample The sky was set ablaze by dawn's early sunlight. The fiery light stretched from the horizon into the open skies above. It was still shadowed to the west, still and asleep, contrasted to the technicolor east. The silhouettes of many trees displayed boldly against the rising light. A sight to truy behold. That was the glory of being up with the sun. Hovering above the waking town, a white bat stirred, pondering why most others chose to be asleep through this spectacle. It was sporadic to find a diurnal bat, but Bartok had been active by daylight for as long as he could remember. Flapping his pale wings several times, he flew above the town. He had just arrived. With the war brewing, he refused to settle anywhere. Cottages lined the many dirt roads that cut through the area. They were mostly small and cozy in appearance. Quite a few people seemed to be sprouting gardens in their front lawns as well. He was not sure who lived here, as not many seemed to be up quite yet, but the town had a nice cozy feeling to it. He couldn't imagine anyone bad living here. He gently perched himself on the branch of an old tree that overlooked the small village. He figured he didn't have anything better to do but to observe the town below anyway. the role player alias • Bom Bom age • 21 pronouns • She/her how did you find us? • Google other characters • N/A |
