[Closed to Missy + Nia, but might open up to others later. Jan 14th]
Ever since Iseult had unofficially “adopted” Nia-- what had once started as taking the cub under her wing had developed into something else entirely, much to Iseult’s perplexment-- their life had been permanently flipped, turned upside down. Everything now revolved around making sure Nia was safe and fed, in addition to making sure she made at least a fewacquaintances friends during their travels. Essentially, it all boiled down to making sure the golden cub was given a better childhood after the hell she had gone through. But so far, things seemed to be going well. In Iseult’s opinion, their daughter had picked up to “living on the road” quite well- especially in regards to being lookout and waiting for Iseult to return with food. Honestly, she was beyond thankful for Nia’s patience, and had verbalised the sentiment multiple times over. But more importantly, Nia’s hunting abilities were starting to develop.
While progression was occurring slowly, it was still evident. Words couldn’t explain the small amount of pride that bloomed within Iseult whenever Nia had successfully caught something small, and without assistance. But as the cub was still learning, the silver lion instructed her to keep practicing on smaller animals; mostly mice and small birds. After all, Iseult had absolutely no intention to throw her daughter in the deep end by requesting her to try hunting something bigger. One day yes, but not today. Iseult mused as she stretched out underneath the shade of a tree, eyes watching Nia carefully. Currently, the duo was resting within the clearing, taking a break from passing through. To be honest, the impromptu rest break was more for Nia than Iseult; with the latter not wanting to totally overexert the cub. As such, the lion had quickly drawn up plans to leave within the next few days.
Around them, the wind rustled the bushes but Iseult thought nothing of it, still focusing their attention on Nia. Well, that was until the wind had died down and the bushes continued to rustle with movement. Iseult narrowed her eyes in suspicion. Something, or someone, was coming… And it seemed to be towards Nia. Without hesitation, Iseult rose to her paws; finding that it was almost alarming at how quickly she moved towards her daughter. Claws out, she stepped in front of Nia, body acting as a barrier between her and whatever was behind the bush. “Stay behind me. Don’t move, whatever you do.” Iseult hissed to her daughter, eyes narrowing as she watched the bush rustle more and more frequently. Whatever was passing through was rapidly approaching the duo, and needless to say Iseult was ready to attack it if it threatened themself or their daughter.
Had it not been for the threat of potential danger, Iseult would have been taken aback by their maternal instincts.
