STAR the basics full name • Star nicknames • None age • Barely Three years primary standing • Thorns Servant secondary standing • Scout/Spy/Messenger faction • The Cursed Thorns (Forced) species • Pure bred Siberian Husky gender • Male (He/Him/His) sexuality • Somewhat Bicurious (currently in the closet) the appearance origin • Balto height and weight • 2' 40 lbs overall appearance • Star who was not only the youngest pup in his litter, but was also the runt is a small, slender, somewhat scruffy grey husky with darker grey stripes on his back and has a notch on both of his ears. His face, chest, underbelly, and front paws are a light creamy color. Furthermore, Star has an unusual dark grey star shaped pattern along his right shoulder. He also has blue eyes and still wears his sled dog collar around his neck; which is specially equipped with a tracker, so that the Thorns can better keep tabs on him and find him easy and bring him back to Thorns territory when needed. the personality overall personality • Star is a young skittish, paranoid, jumpy, a real nervous wreck of a sled dog. Being forced to work for the Thorns didn't exactly help matters either making him even more paranoid and jumpy. He fears being found out by the Suns and then punished by them for his involvement with the Thorns more than anything. The fact that he knows that every move he makes is being closely watched by other Thorns makes him even more paranoid, jumpy, and an overall a real nervous wreck. Further he is anxious, insecure, meek, shy, and timid. Ever since he was pup he's been something of a people pleaser, is easily influenced, and easily gives into peer pressure. As such he longs for approval and praise from others and strives to get others to like him by staying on their good side. Sometimes though when things are not looking good for him and his allies he will complain and whine. He tends to speak his mind usually saying the first thing that comes to mind without always thinking first. He will usually speak out against unfair/unjust laws and other wrongdoings without really thinking about who he is complaining to first; which tends to get him in lots of trouble. Just as he did to Steele, Star isn’t afraid of talking behind his Thorns’ superiors backs to those he trusts. Further on a more positive note, Star is a lot smarter than most people realize. While a bit of a teasing jokester, Star for the most part is nice and playful. One of his weaknesses though is that he is extremely ticklish and that his most ticklish spots are just underneath his neck and just behind his ears. Drives him into a laughing fit of hysterics whenever tickled there. He also likes to be petted just like most normal dogs. Star's strengths are that he has high awareness, is aware of his surroundings, and is pretty observant. He is supportive, compassionate, empathetic, and is largely accepting of others. Given his humble and meek personality very few people notice him, he doesn't exactly stick out and just tends to blend in; which is something is Thorns masters just love to take advantage of every chance they get. They also like to take advantage of his ticklish spots. Star is also a fairly good tracker and is faster than most dogs. Additionally, Star given how cute humans find him is not a half bad beggar enabling the small husky to charm humans out of their food among other things. the history overall history • Star was born to a pair of pure blooded huskies. His father was a black furred husky named, Kenai while his mother was a light grey husky named, Juneau. Star, meanwhile, was the youngest and the smallest of their pups. He was named after Star Point and because of an unusual dark grey star shaped mark found on his right shoulder. The husky family belonged to a kind human family that consisted of a gruff, but well-meaning musher, Leonhard Seppala, his kind and fair wife, two young twin daughters, and a teenaged son. But even being born to such a kind and understanding family, being the runt of the litter and the youngest Star wasn't without his problems. Newborn Star was born weak and sickly due to being born so much smaller than his siblings and so extra care and attention was given to him by both his parents and human family earned him some envy from his siblings. There was even some talk from the local vet that Star was so weak and sickly that he wasn't going to make it and should just be put down. And the musher might have were it not for his three children who all loved and adored Star insisting that they at least try to make the runt as big and strong as his siblings and the musher wanting to be fair agreed. The family's combined efforts of getting Star strong and healthy did not go in vain for one day Star proved the local vet and the rest of the town's naysayers wrong by becoming just as active, playful, and healthy as his older siblings. As soon as he was able, Star would play with his owners and tag along with his siblings. Still bitter from all the extra attention Star received from their parents and owners, Star's siblings weren't exactly thrilled with suddenly having their little brother follow them around. That was until they realized just how much of a people pleaser he was and just how easily he gives into peer pressure. Because of his meek and nervous behavior his siblings were able to easily dominate poor Star every time. As such his siblings liked having him around so they could pressure and bully him into doing things for them. Meanwhile, they led Star to falsely believe all this normal sibling behavior and that they really did love him. Their parents caught their pups pressuring Star a couple of times and while they did scold them the lesson never seemed to really stick. Star, meanwhile, was blinded by love and refused to believe his siblings would do him wrong. One day when Juneau and Kenai's puppies were big enough to find homes of their own, Leon put them up for sale. One by one, Star and his parents watched as his siblings were bought away by happy children and pretty soon only Star remained. The family had hoped to find him a new home too, but apparently the town still thought Star too small to be of much use and so after giving it a few more days with no success, the family decided to keep Star much to the children and the dog parents' delight. Both Star's parents and their human family kept his strength up by vigorous training and play. Then one day, Leon found work as a musher and so he began to purchase potential sled dogs around Nome. Two of these dogs were Kaltag and Nikki who would later become Star's best friends while the third dog, Steele would become the lead sled dog and Star's boss. The musher bought a couple more dogs to make the complete team. Leon at the time wasn't even considering adding Star to the team since he did not think the small husky would be strong and fast enough, but boy did Star prove him wrong. In fact, he proved a lot of people wrong that day. You see, a race was held to see which dogs would make Leon's sled dog team and only the fastest and the best dogs would do. And young Star was determined to make his master and parents proud. A week prior to the race he trained really hard and he practiced and practiced until he had every bit of the race memorized. The town was all abuzz on the day of the race and folks filled the side lines with excitement to watch the race. They wanted to see which dogs would wind up making Leon's team. To everybody's great surprise, Star added himself to the race as a last minute entry and before Leon could pull him out of there the racing gun was fired and the dogs were off with Star running as fast as his little legs could carry him. Star was able to keep up with the other dogs fairly well and was able to use his smaller size to his advantage helping him to easily maneuver himself through some pretty tight spots and turns. Star wound up crossing the finish line in second just after Steele, an Alaskan Malamute who greatly resembled Star's dad. It certainly looked like Leon's own dog made the cut and so Leon happily added Star to the team. Kaltag and Nikki who finished third and fourth also made the team along with a couple of other dogs. Star officially met the group after the race when the winners were congratulating each other. The small husky became fast friends with Kaltag and Nikki mainly because they reminded him of his older brothers and they made him laugh. Steele, on the other hand only makes his anxiety levels go way up and makes him an overall nervous wreck. As much as Star wanted to like Steele he didn't, but he did respect and admire him enough to accept him as his leader. And although he disliked Steele he masked it well only revealing his true disdain of the malamute to his besties: Kaltag and Nikki whenever Steele and the other dogs weren't around to hear them. To Star's great relief Kaltag and Nikki didn't much like Steele either and only followed him around for much of the same reasons Star did. Additionally, Star secretly feared Steele and his temper; which was yet another reason Star followed Steele despite not always agreeing with him. In fact, had he known that by winning second place meant he'd be positioned right behind Steele he would have slowed down during the race a bit making third or fourth instead, but oh no he just had to be faster than all the other dogs. He just had to make second and thus get stuck directly behind the meanest dog with the shortest temper. Just his luck they didn't rerun such races often otherwise next race he'd be aiming for third or fourth. Give someone else a chance to deal with Steele's temper and feel the brunt of it. Throughout their career as a team they learned a lot about each other. Like how Kaltag doesn't always tolerate Star's random outbursts resulting in Kaltag to give his smaller friend a good whack on the head and how Nikki doesn't talk much. Steele would also hit Star whenever the small husky dared to disagree with him, criticize him, question his authority or just speak out of turn; which was only one of the many reasons Star secretly disliked his leader. Kaltag only got away with hitting him because they were good friends whereas Steele was his boss not his friend. Friends could get away with hitting you for saying stupid stuff, but not your boss. That was how Star saw it anyway. Their jobs as sled dogs in addition to racing against other established teams usually consisted of picking up something from nearby towns and delivering it to Nome. It wasn't long before Leon's team particularly Steele made a name for themselves. Indeed, Leon's dogs, Steele especially became pretty well known throughout the little town of Nome. It wasn't too surprising given just how much of a show off Steele was. It was around this time that Nome was greeted by a newcomer, a wolf dog named, Balto. He showed up looking for a new place to call home only to be met with hate and distrust. While other dogs, Steele especially only too happily teased and tormented Balto, Star didn't understand what the big deal was. So Balto is half wolf and half husky. Well whoope doo! Who gives a crap! Well apparently most of the town did. Still Star didn't get the hate, but while not nearly on the same level, Star kind of understood what Balto was going through since back when he was a little sickly pup he was often teased by humans and dogs alike for being a weak, sickly runt. But now that he was all grown up, healthy, strong, and on a championship sled dog team very few if any still tease him. Poor Balto, on the other hand, would always get teased since no matter what he does he'll always be part wolf. And unfortunately despite having some level of understanding of what Balto is going through, Star often finds himself peer pressured by his friends and Steele into teasing Balto. What's more, Star sometimes in the heat of the moment loses himself in the teasing and ends up being no better than his friends and Steele. Star feels just terrible about it later though. One day during a race against another team, Star worried out loud that he didn't think they were going to win earning a swift kick from Steele. Steele decided if they couldn't win fairly that he would cheat by biting at one of the opposing team's dogs causing the whole team to trip and crash enabling Steele's team to win. Star secretly hated that they won by cheating, but not wanting to get hit again and wanting to stay on Steele's good side and please him decided to keep it to himself. As they neared the finish line, Star observed Balto rescuing a little girl's musher's hat from getting ran over by them. He also observed Steele attempting to mess with Balto...Again. Honestly, didn't his leader have anything better to do than to pick fights? But Star knew better than to get in Steele's way especially when he was on the war path, so he, Kaltag, and Nikki decided to hang out by themselves for awhile. Star also noticed all the drama that was going on; particularly the love shape thing that was happening all around them. Star knew only all too well that a local small dog named, Dixie had a thing for Steele, but he couldn't care less about her. Now Steele did, however, have a thing for Jenna while Balto also liked Jenna. Star kind of caught that. While hanging out, the trio discussed the drama that was going on as well as complaining about their leader. Later on, Steele finds them and the group ends up finding Balto and his goose friend in an alleyway. Steele ends up making fun of Balto...Again only this time the trio joins in in teasing Balto too. Star only joins in out of peer pressure and because he wants to please Steele and stay on his good side. During the teasing, Steele manages to hit Balto with a rock and the trio acknowledges the feat, but as soon as Steele is out of earshot the trio acknowledge that it was a jerk move that Steele did. Tragedy struck one day in the town of Nome in the form of a deadly diphtheria outbreak. The disease was making the human children deathly sick. Leon's three children were among the ones that got sick as did Jenna's human girl, Rosie. The disease was making it difficult for the children to breathe and their throats hurt. Sadly, the town's doctor was out of the antitoxin needed to cure the town's sick children. Worried about the children, Star like all the other dogs wanted to do nothing more than to help. With all other modes of transportation rendered useless due to the growing snowstorm, it was decided that a dog sled team would get the medicine from the neighboring town and bring it back to Nome before it is too late. Naturally, they needed the fastest sled dogs to make the long journey and so a race was held to see which dogs would make the team. To everybody's great surprise, Balto entered himself in the race and unlike Kaltag and Nikki, Star didn't care that Balto was in the race. After all, wasn't that the point of the race: to see which dogs were the fastest? In Star's mind if Balto finished in the top three then half wolf or not he should definitely be added to the team. Sadly, Star's buddies didn't seem to see it that way since all throughout the race they tried to stop Balto. But all their efforts to stop the wolf dog were in vain since Balto ended up winning the race anyway. Not that it much mattered since Steele made sure Balto wouldn't be put on the team. Leon and his dog sled team left Nome immediately after that to collect the medicine at the Nenana Depot; which they succeed at. Unfortunately because of a terrible blizzard the team becomes hopelessly lost on their way back to Nome. Observant, Star realizes they are going in cricles and tries to warn Steele that they're lost and going in cricles suggesting that maybe they should go back only for the proud Steele to yell at him. Steele reassures his team that he isn't lost and that he knows what he is doing. Things only went from bad to worse after they take a wrong turn somewhere and end up crashing down a slippery slope knocking their musher out in the process. Since the musher had cared for him since he was a pup, Star is particularly concerned for their musher's well being and after gently nudging their unconscious owner nervously asks Steele what they should do next. Not knowing what else to do, Star tries to keep their musher warm by laying near him. While sitting shivering in the snow thinking what to do next, Balto unexpectedly shows up offering his help to which Star was the very first to readily accept. Steele, however, promptly refuses Balto's offer of help going so far as to threaten Balto. Still, the wolf dog persisted insisting that they needed to get back with the medicine now because the town's children are getting sicker; which really worried Star because he loved their musher's kids and couldn't bear the thought of them dying. As such Star had hoped that Steele would see reason and allow Balto to lead them home, but to the husky's confusion Steele practically forced Balto to fight him. While Kaltag and Nikki betted who would win, Star questioned what was with Steele pointing out that Balto is only trying to help them. Thankfully, Balto wins the fight after Steele fell off the cliff. After Star and the other dogs pulled their musher onto the sled, Star only too happily presented Balto with the sled's harness in the lead dog position. Sadly though, it wasn't long before they ran into the same problem they did with Steele in the lead; which confused Star because he thought Balto marked the trail. But now that they were just as lost as before, Star wasn't so sure. But then Balto blamed Steele claiming he must be the one behind the extra markings on the trees. Star believed Balto since sabotage was certainly something his leader would do. Following some more bumps along the way including nearly losing the medicine and narrowly escaping a deadly avalanche, Balto and the team successfully make it back just in time to cure the town's children. For this Balto was deservedly hailed as a hero while Steele was ironically made an outcast. Star even excitedly exclaimed that they should build a statue of Balto to mark the wolf dog's heroic deeds to which to his surprise and relief his friends agree. Next thing Star knew the war and the merging of the worlds happened causing the language barrier between the humans and the dogs to disappear completely; which weirded out Star. Not knowing where his best friends ran off to tries to follow Balto and Jenna only to wind up hopelessly lost and in completely the wrong place. Unfortunately, he ends up found by the wrong people: the dreaded Cursed Thorns and is quickly captured and enslaved by them. The Thorns like to use him as a personal spy and messenger since few would pay him too much mind and because he is good at sneaking around and being inconspicuous. But because they don't trust him, they cleverly equipped a tracker to his sled collar and made sure to have loyal Thorn spies follow him around to make sure he obeys them and doesn't try anything foolish. Star hopes to one day be free from their evil clutches, but he isn't holding his breath. the Role play sample Sample is mandatory for new members. the role player alias • Mordo age • 33 pronouns • Female (She/Her/Hers) how did you find us? • Bing other characters • Karl and Circe |
