He’s temperamental, exploding into rage at the smallest thing, and cruel enough to kill children and his own men with no regret. He has his own code of honor which revolves around his appearance, wanting to seem like his version of a gentleman to others without giving up on being the most dastardly pirate to sail the seven seas. He is obsessive, as shown when he lived a large portion of his life hunting Pan out of revenge, and an expert plotter and leader. He’s afraid of only crocodiles. the history overall history • Hook was born James to an aristocratic father in Eaton England and a mother who’d disappeared in his youth. He attended Eaton college but was thrown out for his explosive temper his father, more concerned about appearances and his own social standing, wanted nothing more to do with his son. With no friends to speak of, James went looking for his mother and discovered that she was a notorious pirate captain now. He sailed with her, looking for her approval, and rarely got it. Being a pirate suited his lust for adventure and even his vibrant temper well. Once, on a stunt hoping to impress her, the young James got shipwrecked and separated from his mother’s ship. He was rescued by another older boy who, though not the brightest, saved him. This young man’s name was Smee. He became the only friend James ever had, and believing himself to be a man of honor, James refuses to kill Smee even to this day despite his bungling everything because of this life-debt. Also, since he’s committed to keeping Smee around, the older idiot has become the only one Hook opens up to. James and Smee began their pirating career off the coast of Neverland, where James, incredibly sharp, learned to speak fairy. After one particular misadventure with a fairy experimenting with Pixie Dust, the inhabitants of Neverland learned to mistrust the young pirate. Still, he’d seen the power of magic, and he resolved to stay and figure out how to use it to become a pirate his Mamma could be proud of one day. All of this was going off mildly well until James met him... Peter Pan, hero of Neverland, the boy who wouldn’t grow up. He insisted on saving every mermaid or Indian that Hook’s crew attacked, or even stole Hook’s treasure to hide it away as a game, and doing it all with a childish, unfair, ungentlemanly course of conduct that James found infuriating. Finally, one day, Peter Pan cut off Hook’s hand in battle and fed it to a crocodile who follows the Captain to this day. Feeling his pirate reputation besmirched and his black soul rubbed raw by the bare thought of Pan and all he represented, Hook vowed to destroy the magical boy and his Lost Boys. He forwent treasure, plundering, and even acquiring magic. The only thing that mattered was doggedly hunting Pan. He almost succeeded when Peter brought children from London to Neverland by using his newfound affection for Wendy to lure the boy into a trap. Peter Pan managed to survive and save the day after all. For a year or so afterward, Holm and his crew were left to survive in the wilds of Neverland without their ship, the Jolly Roger. Hook seethed with the desire for revenge. Then, one day, the Evil Queen sent a message to Skull Rock. She explained that Peter had bored of the Jolly Roger and left it stowed away in England and was now hiding somewhere in the Merged Worlds during a Great War. The Cursed Thorns promised to return to him his ship, which they’d acquired, in return for his crew’s service in their budding Navy against the Enchanted Suns army. Seeing this as a means to the end of finding Pan, as well as a way to keep his own crew (tired of hunting Lost Boys and yearning for real pirate misdeeds) loyal, Captain Hook accepted the position and went to war. the role player alias • Maxine age • pronouns • She, her how did you find us? • Spot other characters •Colleen, Lady Tremaine, Ariel |
