He has cheerful brown eyes, a big mouth, and buck teeth. the personality overall personality • Donkey is happy-go-lucky. He sees the bright side in everything—literally everything. He has a very hard time not talking, being incredibly personable and friendly. This can come off as obnoxious to most people. He has a natural zest for life and enjoys trying new things, as long as they don’t involve his fears, like heights or monsters. Other than that, Donkey is your typical sugar-high, adventurous companion usually up for anything. He hates being alone and can be incredibly clingy, but this also makes him loyal. Though his initial reaction is to wear his fear on his sleeves, he’s confident, witty and brave as long as there’s a friend beside him. the history overall history • Donkey was born a simple colt in the realm of fairytales now ruled by Shrek and Fiona. At the time, it was owned by Lord Farquad, who turned out to be an insecure tyrant dedicated to transforming the wacky world into his idea of perfection. This included rounding up and banishing all fairy-tale creatures. Donkey fell into that category, because unlike other dumb beasts, he could talk. In fact, he never shut up. His owner, a bitter and miserly old farm lady, never treated Donkey with kindness and tried to sell him out to Farquad’s men the first chance she got. When attempting to escape, Donkey ran into Shrek. The ogre scared the pursuing soldiers away and earned Donkey’s companionship for life, much to his chagrin. Donkey stuck to Shrek like glue, whether the grouchy ogre liked it or not. When Farquad relocated the fairy tale creatures to Shrek’s beloved swamp, the ogre set off to have them removed from his land with Donkey as his sidekick. Donkey actually proved very helpful, not only leading Shrek to Farquad’s palace but assisting him in finding the Princess Fiona that Farquad demanded in exchange for moving Shrek’s squatters. There, Donkey met the Dragon guarding Fiona’s prison. She would have eaten him, but the nonstop babbling of the terrified Donkey led to accidental flirting. The Dragon fell in love with him, but he, quite terrified of her, escaped the Keep with Shrek and Fiona and left the Dragon forlornly sitting in the castle. Fiona wound up having a curse that transformed her from beautiful woman to hideous ogress at night. She was willing to marry Farquad because she knew true love would break the spell, but on the return journey from the dragon’s keep, she rapidly fell in love with Shrek instead. Donkey was the first to notice, and the first to find out about her curse. Fiona confided in him, but Shrek overheard only the worst parts of what she said, and his heartbreak led him to bring Farquad to the princess immediately the following morning and push both her, and a desperate Donkey, away. While wandering, miserable without his friend, Donkey encountered Dragon again. She had escaped her keep and had been wandering, looking for Donkey. He felt bad for the sad-looking monster and befriended her, realizing that he was attracted to the fire-breathing beast, too. Donkey returned to Shrek’s swamp, angry with the ogre for pushing everyone away, even his best friend. He stood up to the sorry green hero, and finally explained that the Princess really loved Shrek and he needed to go and get what he wanted. With Dragon as their aid, Shrek and Donkey crashed Lord Farquad’s wedding and Shrek and Fiona. married. Fiona became an ogress permanently, since Shrek loved her no matter what. Dragon ate Lord Farquad, and Donkey married his scaly sweetheart. Through the years of matrimony, Donkey assisted Shrek. He helped the ogre handle his in-laws (spending some time as a stallion in a misguided attempt to be better for their loved ones) defeat a deranged Fairy Godmother, and fall into friendship with Puss in Boots. Dragon gave birth to Dronkeys, which were named Coco, Debbie, Parfait, Peanut, Bananas, and Eclair. Donkey was ecstatic not only to be a daddy, but to become an uncle when Shrek and Fiona had triplets. Through thick and thin, Donkey has been there for Shrek. When his wife up and joined the war, the little animal followed, leaving the kids with Shrek and Fiona (without really asking their permission.) He’d be there for his old lady, too! the role player alias • Maxine age • pronouns • She, her how did you find us? • Spot other characters •Colleen, Lady Tremaine, Ariel, Hook, Jaribu, Nick Wild, Pleakley, Mrs. Potts, Vitani, Shan Yu, Spooky 300, Slushy 523, Jim Hawkins, Donkey, Zuri |
