Genie the basics Genie of the Lamp• nicknames • Blue Boy, Genie, Slave age • Unknown (at least a few millennia) primary standing • Suns Magical Consultant secondary standing • Aladdin’s Consort faction • Enchanted Suns species • Djinn gender • Male sexuality •Heterosexual the appearance origin • Aladdin overall appearance • When in his natural state, Genie is a whiff of blue smoke from the waist down, a blue giant of sorts from the waist up with a goatee, black ponytail of hair, a gold earring, pointed ears and a red waistband. He often sports golden bracelets that are not unlike the ones he used to wear as slave to the lamp, except instead of shackles, these bear the royal insignia of Princess Jasmine as a token of friendship. the personality overall personality • Genie is charming, comedic, spastic and eccentric. He enjoys a good joke, practical or verbal, but never means any harm by it. He loves impressions and draws on his vast, cosmic experiences of dimensions and world-travels to make them, not noticing when mere mortals don’t get the punchline. He’s truly loyal to his friends and makes them easily, with an eye for kind hearts and heroes and sarcastic disdain for the villains he’s been forced to serve in the past. the history overall history • Genie spent several millennia as a djinn enslaved in a magic lamp. He was forced to grant the three wishes of his Master: that being, anyone who rubbed the lamp. With the lamp came phenomenal cosmic power which was nearly limitless—but in addition, he was made it’s servant and forced to serve Masters who were often greedy, selfish, and domineering. Genie gained a lot of world experience and knowledge (if not going a little nuts at the long confinement) but no Master was ever interested in his advice. Not until Aladdin. The Diamond in the Rough, a street-boy from the marketplaces of Agrabah, found Genie’s lamp by accident and, being heroic, offered to set the djinn free for his final wish. Genie became friends with the young man, helping him to pose as a Prince to win the heart of Princess Jasmine and thwarting the evil Grand Vizier, Jafar’s, attempts to have the lad killed. When Aladdin became terrified of ruling as Sultan, he confessed that he didn’t want to use his last wish to set Genie free out of insecurity. Genie, furious after getting his hopes up, disappeared into the lamp. When he was summoned again, it was Jafar who had schemed his way into finding the Genie and taking the wishes for himself. Genie was forced to help the madman until Aladdin outsmarted Jafar, tricking the sorcerer into turning himself into an imprisoned Genie. After Genie launched the villain’s black lamp into the desert where it would hopefully never be found, Aladdin wished him free. Genie traveled the world with his newfound freedom and discovered something else. His magical powers, though still wacky, zany, and useful, were no longer as powerful. They began to wane. Once impervious to most attacks, Genie found he was able to be subdued by even non-magical assailants and was getting slower against magical ones. This became apparent when Jafar returned, tricking Abis Mal the idiot villain and Iago into helping him get revenge on Aladdin. He easily contained Genie himself. At the last moment, Iago turned to good and freed the Genie, and they were able to defeat Jafar. Aladdin spent the next stretch of time before his wedding to Jasmine by proving he could be a worthy Sultan. Genie helped him, Abu, Carpet, and Jasmine to take down any threats, magical or otherwise, that could darken the Seven Deserts and the kingdom of Agrabah. Genie wasn’t as powerful as he had been as slave to the Lamp, but he still gave the heroes the edge they need against enemies. On the day of Al’s wedding, his father showed back up. He was revealed to be leader of the Forty Thieves. Genie was there for Jasmine when Aladdin left to reconnect with and attempt to reform his dad, Cassim, and he was there when Cassim and Aladdin needed saving. He was finally there for the wedding of his best friend and his sweetheart. When Al left to join the Enchanted Suns, Genie was ordered to stay and protect Agrabah. It was hard keeping the Princess from following her husband, but Genie spent every moment trying to entertain or distract the strong willed woman out of it. She was already weighed down with whether or not to involve Agrabah in the war directly, and helping her aging father. Finally, Genie had to break down and obey when Jasmine begged him to go out and check on Aladdin, ensuring he came home. the role player alias • Maxine age • pronouns • She, her how did you find us? • Spot other characters •Colleen, Lady Tremaine, Ariel, Hook, Jaribu, Nick Wild, Pleakley, Mrs. Potts, Vitani, Shan Yu, Spooky 300, Slushy 523, Jim Hawkins, Donkey, Zuri, Mother Gothel, Genie |
