Aesthetically, his magic tends to take the appearance of musical stanzas and notes, although he may "paint" with his magic whatever images he chooses. As his magic is music based, he needs to be creating music (with an instrument or his voice) in the moment to use his powers. Forte is able to utilize some basic magical blast attacks which can knock a person off their feet. He can, if needed, summon up enough power to shake a whole castle to pieces, but such a powerful attack in his flesh-and-blood form will severely injure him because it drains his strength and burns him to the point it may kill him if he's not given care quickly. Forte considers himself a healer rather than a fighter though, and has refined a form of magical healing. He can heal a person by playing music which will slowly mend wounds; this requires concentration on his part and the worse the injury, the longer he needs to cast his spell uninterrupted. Vampiric: Becoming a vampire in his desperation for immortality, Forte differs from humans in a handful of ways. He only gets nutrients from blood (human blood is ideal) but he may eat regular food strictly for pleasure if he wants. Though Forte lacks the enhanced strength and speed some vampires have, but he has just enough that he can occasionally successfully hunt for himself. His sight, hearing and sense of smell are more refined than that of humans and more akin to those of predatory mammals. He's also able to open his jaw wider than a human and bite down far stronger than a human. Forte may assume the form of a fruit bat, but cannot shapeshift into any other animals. overall personality • Forte is quite infamous amongst the castle staff for being gloomy. The composer carries himself with dignity, is cordial enough in most circumstances and is undeniably a virtuoso, however, he always been something of a social outcast; pessimistic, gaunt in appearance and, most significantly, magically inclined. Be it by his own doing or not, Forte is a loner, usually occupying himself with either his music or his dryly humorous commentary of the world around him. Without a doubt, he’s manipulative when it suits him and will cling to any recognition he gets with a passive-aggressive pretentiousness. Yet, Forte is not a villain who seeks absolute power and control; he never had ambitions of ruling the castle nor hurting anyone for its own sake. At the end of the day, the maestro wants little more than for his art to be admired. Regardless of sympathetic motives, Forte is tormented to disillusion by his own sorrow and believes he is so starved of appreciation that he is more than willing to put his cunning mind to work at removing rivals, even if it ultimately means ruining someone else’s life to improve his own. the history overall history • Forte was not raised in the castle; he was taken in as a young man when he was found completely soaked to the bone in the Black Forest running from… something. It was obvious he had come from some background of trauma, but he does not care to talk about it. The mysterious youth quickly was given his place among the court as their composer, even though he was a warlock and much of the castle staff were wary of him because of it. Although he spent many loyal years as their court composer, an extraordinarily talented one at that, Forte was forever unpopular and feared that one day he would be replaced. The resentment he felt toward the rest of the staff was silent, but it showed in organist’s depressing compositions. His time as a human was plagued by a self-perpetuating loop of cynicism and sorrow, but when an Enchantress would curse their house for the selfish actions of their maladjusted young Master, he found a new purpose. Under the curse, Forte had fused with his instrument. In pipe organ state, he was unable to move from his room or so much as see outside a window, but he eventually convinced himself that he preferred it that way. Under the enchantment he would grow to have a bond with the Master and have real importance in the castle. For as maddening as it was to be chained, and that did chip away at his sanity as the years passed, Forte would viscously guard his place as the Master’s closest advisor and friend. The organ viewed himself to be the Beast’s guardian in place of his parents, and genuinely believed he knew what was best for him. For once in Forte’s miserable life, he felt he had a place in the world, and he wanted to keep it to the bitter end. Forte felt threatened by Belle's arrival, eventually escalating into his attempt on Belle and the Beast's life using his magic. He was, however, killed when he, in pipe organ state, was crushed under his own weight. However upon the Enchantment breaking, Forte was revived and restored to his human form. Knowing he would not be welcome in the castle due to the stunt he pulled, he snuck away, allowing everyone to believe he was dead. Forte had few places to turn to so, in desperation, he sought out his great grandfather, a rumored vampire. Upon being taken in and soon learning the truth of the rumors, Forte would allow his great grandfather to turn him. Forte was able to get the immortality he craved. He was allowed to get acquainted with the vampiric curse for a time after. Upon the merging of the worlds, it wasn't too long before he took his side and swore loyalty to the Thorns in exchange for his magical services. It was during his time there he began to refine the art of healing via his music magic, giving a whole new dimension to his insistence that his music helped tortured souls. The fact that the Thorns generally would not turn of their noses to a vampire and his... "dietary needs" was a plus as well. the Role play sample “Excuse me, uh, maestro, but I-I think we’re supposed to be having a lesson?” “Not now, Fife. I’m busy.” Forte didn’t give so much as a glance in the pre-teen’s direction as he put another bite of cake into his mouth. It was just himself and his student in the sitting place outside overlooking the garden at sunset. The maestro clearly was more focused on the round cake he’d brought out with him, which he quite possibly had taken without permission. The sun was warm, the lighting was beautiful and the food was pleasant: it was bliss, until Fife came along. His brows furrowed as he cut a small piece out with the side of his fork in an attempt to feign daintiness. “Are you still here?” Forte droned. “I’m just wondering when our lesson is going to be, maestro?” “When I’m through eating, of course.” With a smug smile, he closed his mouth around the fork. There were a few seconds of quiet as Fife was glancing back and forth between his mentor and his desert. “The… entire cake?” That comment got Forte to turn. His expression was severe, just short of angry. “You associate with me for music lessons, not to call my life choices into question,” he huffed, “Begone!” the role player alias • Vile age • 27 pronouns • They/them, she/her, he/him how did you find us? • i've always been here, in your heart other characters • nope |
