He had his mother lost to him by Tigerstar's teeth. Which started the tom's resentment towards the entire bloodline. Ashfur held a big grudge against Tigerstar's son Brambleclaw and it was only made worse when Squirrelflight rejected him for Brambleclaw. To make Squirrelflight pay he tried to assist in the murder of Firestar, her father, but the plan was foiled by Brambleclaw. Ashfur bided his time and, during a very over the top and dramatic encounter in a firey blaze, Ashfur tried to murder Squirrelflight's kits. As a last ditch effort, the she-cat told him they weren't her kits. Ashfur planned on revealing the information at a Gathering but before he could he was murdered by Hollyleaf. Ashfur ended up in StarClan, somehow, and was infuriated about it. Fast forward, the stars fell. Ashfur, more curious than his fellow StarClan cats, started to explore and found the darkness of the Underworld. And in doing so, encountered Pitch Black. Pitch promised Ashfur life in return for souls dragged to the darkness. And he knew just the soul. Convincing Squirrelflight to follow him to the shadows, under the ruse that he was going to take her to see Hollyleaf, Ashfur trapped Squirrelflight in the shadow world.
