(Open to all Cursed Thorns/anyone in the Black Keep)
Sometimes it felt like a bit too much to ask for a private moment. As Ella got to know the Black Keep better, she started to make mental maps of the way in which the castle was set up. It was hard at first. The entire place seemed to be set up like a dizzying maze with the intent to confuse and confound anyone who was unfortunate enough to stumble their way in. Maleficent, Ella knew, was a vengeful woman, a smart woman. Someone who didn't like to be bothered by those deemed unworthy. In a way, this castle was perfect for that.
During the first few months in the Keep, it felt like Ella was discovering a different secret passage every day. New hallways and doors would make themselves known to her, reveal themselves gradually. It seemed like the more she started to trust the Keep, the more it started to trust her. In the way that she grew to know every inch of her own house, it seemed that she was well on her way to know each nook and cranny of the Black Keep. Every crevice and corner would be known to her and her alone. There was power in that, Ella knew, being able to slip away at a moment's notice. To be able to throw someone off of her trail.
Her travels and exploring eventually led her to find a small place that she could call her own. Ella had her own room, of course, but the location was less than ideal and she was barred from going back there during the day. Here, in this room just off to the side, Ella could find some solace and peace when needed. It was an old study of some sort, or at least that's what Ella assumed. There was a tea table, a couch, some bookshelves, and a desk, all of which were in varying states of disrepair when first found. Ella had discovered the room tucked away off the main hall and down some stairs. Despite the traditional door, she had found it through a panel in a false wall.
Ella laid on the couch, her feet up for the first time in what felt like forever. With all of the shadow business going on, people were distracted and Ella was more than happy to take advantage of that. For a moment, she felt at peace, like nothing could touch her. It was in this room that she could daydream and imagine what life was like outside of those walls. What people were doing with their days.
It was in this reverie Ella could hear voices and footsteps in the hall. She sat up quickly and ducked behind the couch. She wasn't sure if she would be in trouble if found, seeing as the room was quite abandoned, but Ella knew better. Some of the Thorns seemed to take pleasure in seeing how much trouble they could get her in. As the door turned, Ella held her breath, hoping she wouldn't be discovered.
