(Open to Chief and Patch; After Star-Fall)
One might think Chief would be pleased to be away from the camp, out tracking again. But as he stalked along, a deep glower was set on his face, and every so often he stopped to shoot an irritated glare at his unwanted companion, who seemed all but oblivious to his disdain. Perhaps because a scowl was his natural expression. He wasn't opposed to the idea of having a partner along while out hunting or tracking, but he certainly wouldn't have picked a spotted pup.
Well, pup might be an exaggeration of his companion's youth, but he might as well have been from Chief's point of view. And what was worse than youth and inexperience was the way the youngster stood out with his white coat and black spots. Especially this close to Thorn territory. Sure, sending Chief out this way to search made sense enough to him, given all his years of experience. But sending a young Dalmatian along with him was something else entirely. That part he couldn't make sense of. So, he grumped and groused to himself until they'd gotten to the Pridelands.

"Now keep close, keep your head down, and keep it quiet," he warned as he peered out through the thorny ground. They looked to be drying out, but they were still thick, and those thorns were still big and sharp. And the whole mess was still thick enough to be a good hiding place. "And whatever you do, don't go wandering into any dark nook or nothin'. That's a good way to get your nose bitten off. I seen it happen before, so mind where you go stickin' it!"
He peered up at the sun for a moment, and grunted. It'd be setting all too soon, and he didn't relish being out here at night, beneath a starless sky. He set his nose to the ground and peered around, sniffing about. A few old tracks, scent long faded, could be seen here and there, but nothing recent. Not yet, anyways. "Ain't nothin' been out here in days," he murmured as he carefully squeezed beneath a looping, thorny vine.
