January 16-Wargames Thread
Now that enough time had passed for him to get fully settled in, Tramp had approached Sarabi about finally running a few soldiers through some infiltration maneuvers, with a few others opposing them. With the lion queen's blessing, a section of the forest roughly the size of a baseball field was set aside for the event, with soldiers marking off the boundaries. The whole thing was rather simple. The infiltrators would attempt to sneak through the section of woods, retrieve one of three leather satchels, located beyond the patrol zone, and sneak back out of the wooded area without being caught. The sentinels would do their best to prevent the satchels from being taken, while only being allowed to exit their patrol zone in pursuit of an infiltrator.
The sentinels would score points for each infiltrator they manage to tag, removing them from the game, while the infiltrators would score points for each satchel they managed to carry free of the woods, or two points if they managed to get themselves and the satchel out without being seen. Mulan, by virtue of being the most experienced soldier on either side, had been placed in charge of the sentinels, while the Tramp had taken command of the infiltrators.
Right now, the grey-furred mongrel was sitting and staring at the woods, just outside the edge of the designated wargame zone. Fuli was fast, but speed would only carry her so far in the forest. Particularly the denser parts. Violet could turn herself invisible, but that wouldn't prevent her from stepping on a branch, or brushing against some, and the rules meant her forcefields wouldn't help her. Nor would any satchel she snagged be invisible. So, they'd all have to be careful on the approach.
He knew Mulan was quite a soldier, and, while Kopa was arguably the weakest soldier present due to his youth, Mulan's experience and lady's insight into how his mind worked would likely more than make up for it. He'd have to be on his toes. He glanced at Fuli and Violet for a moment before offering them a few last words of advice. They already knew the rules as well as he did. "Spread out, keep moving, keep low, and watch your footing. And whatever you do, don't move for too long in a straight line," he advised before padding forward into the woods, keeping low and letting his grey fur help keep him hidden, ears perked for any sounds that might indicate a sentinel was near.
