Mulan the basics full name • Fa Mulan nicknames • N/A age • Seventeen primary standing • Soldier, assigned to Captain Shang secondary standing • Hero of China faction • Enchanted Suns species • Human gender • Female sexuality • Hetero the appearance origin • Mulan height and weight • 5'5" / 120lbs overall appearance • A young Chinese woman, Mulan mostly stands out for the alertness in her dark eyes. With straight black hair that just brushes her shoulders - with one escapee strand that invariably rests across her forehead - and a build that used to be slender but has had a lot more muscle put on it since joining the army. Typical outfit is a simple tunic and dress, mostly in shades of blue, with dark red highlights. the personality overall personality • Sharp as a tack, courageous, independent and not afraid to speak her mind... these were not traits that were expected of a woman in Sixth Century China, nor ones that did young Mulan many favours for much of her life. Add to them, however, a strong streak of perseverance, resourcefulness, and the ability to think on her feet - if not always quite considering the consequences of her decisions - and they served her well when she disobeyed every tradition to go to war in her father's stead. the history overall history • The Hero of China isn't a title that most people come by overnight; and that was certainly true of Mulan's experience. A girl who had never quite fit in with the societal expectations of her day - loud and outspoken were traits that were frowned upon in a woman of Ancient China, and were also traits that she had in abundance - Mulan still did her best to muddle through... by the time she utterly humiliated her matchmaker, however (completely by accident, mind you!), it had become clear to her that this just... wasn't who she was supposed to be. She needed an out. One arrived in the form of a call to war. One man from every household was required by law to join the Chinese army; and, in the case of the Fa family, that meant Mulan's father - an aged hero of a past war, who was in no shape to take up arms again. If he went to war again, the whole family knew, he would be going to his inevitable death... and it was on this knowledge that Mulan knew she had to act. Stealing her father's armour, she disguised herself as a man and joined the army in his stead. Training... where she started out as the very worst trainee under Captain Li Shang, but eventually rose to the top of the class through sheer determination. The march out to war, to reenforce the general's troops... only to find that the Hun army had already cut a bloody path through the rest of the army, leaving no survivors. The battle in the pass, where only a stroke of inspiration on her part saved Shang's forces from meeting the same grim fate. Her injury... and the reveal of who she really was. Shang sparing her life, but leaving her alone on the mountainside, in disgrace. And the final battle against the surviving Hun troops in the Emperor's palace itself, that saw her named as the saviour of China. Once all was said and done, Mulan returned home to her family. As always, however, the peace could only last so long. War once again loomed on the horizon; the Emperor was abruptly overthrown as the Cursed Thorns army sprang up seemingly out of nowhere and forcing the people to supply the agricultural needs for their sinister army. Mulan joined Shang in fighting hard against the takeover; but, ultimately, to no avail, and the soldiers of China were forced to fall back and join the Enchanted Suns army, rather than risk bringing the villains' wrath down upon their land. Mulan only hesitated long enough to help her family into hiding, lest they be a target due to her involvement, before heading out after her captain. the role player alias • Cheetah age • 27 pronouns • Male other characters • Shenzi, Cody |
