[January 10-Mid Morning-Open to any Enchanted Suns who might be around. Especially Balto.]
It had been quite a journey from Nome to here. There were a couple times when Jenna had lost Balto's trail, so she was forced to take time to find it again. Since he was alone this time, without a goose and a pair of polar bear cubs to slow him down, he was moving faster than before. But, despite the journey being a good deal longer this time, she never wavered determined to catch up to him, and be by his side.
She'd left Nome only after realizing the language barrier between man and dog was gone, unwilling to leave without explaining things to Rosy, and promising to return to visit whenever she could. As much as she hated to leave her girl behind, she was unwilling to stay in Nome knowing Balto was gone, likely into danger. Especially since the last time he'd gone off like this he'd nearly gotten killed by a bear.
Actually seeing how different the world was outside of Alaska was a major eye-opener for her. She'd heard tales of how things had changed, but it wasn't the same as seeing it. She'd been more than happy to leave New York behind, with all its cars, and massive crowds of people, but some places were actually not bad. Not home, perhaps, but not bad. Like the forest she found herself in, for instance. In some ways reminded her of the forest near Nome, but in other ways, it was much different.
Jenna found herself slowing so she could take it all in. The sights, the scents, even the sounds were all so new here. And, as she continued on, she felt her journey was nearing its end. Balto's scent was fresher here than it had been, and crossed over itself a few times, but eventually led to a rough road, and, after a bit, a rough-looking place. She had to stop and stare for a moment as she spotted the sign hanging outside, identifying it as The Snuggly Duckling. She eyed it skeptically, then padded to the door and peered inside.
"Balto?"
