(ooc: January 17th. Open to all who would have reason to be in Paris.)
There was so much more that he could have been doing, a lot more that was productive, and yet... Varian had an itch that he needed to scratch. Said itch prompted him to create a harmless alchemical mixture. He'd just finished it up and was watching the swirls of varying colors mingle with one another. A childlike delight danced in his cyan eyes as a gleeful little laugh bubbled up from within him. Oh, Varian had plans. Big plans.
"Okay, Ruddiger," Varian said. He passed the orb of chemicals on to his partner and knelt down behind the nearest stone structure. This orb wasn't made of glass, and instead was a special material that would dissolve once it came in contact with water. Ruddiger, of course, was sat beside him. While Varian did want to cause some mischief, he didn't want to be seen doing it just yet. "You take the orb, and see that fountain?" A gloved finger was pointed in the direction of one of the Parisian fountains. Ruddiger looked that way, then chirped a little to confirm he saw it. That was all Varian needed to know. The next step was clear enough.
"Once you're at the fountain, drop it into the water. Okay?" The instructions seemed clear enough. Ruddiger nodded his head, then took the chemical ball in his little paws and started for the fountain. From there, Varian just watched. His eyes were full of glee and, again, a childish little laugh escaped him. Vengeful though he was, he still was a child.
A little prank on the locals wouldn't hurt.
Varian watched with baited breath as Ruddiger hopped onto the ledge of the fountain and dropped the ball into its watery contents. He couldn't see quite what happened from there, but he got an inkling of it.
From where Ruddiger sat, the raccoon could see the orb dissolve away and the water starting to bubble a bit. He only tayed long enough to watch that much. As soon as he could confirm that that much had happened, Ruddiger hopped off the fountain and started to make himself look like he was just passing by. Slowly, the colors dispersed and changed all of the water within the fountain. People standing nearby could see the change and began to murmur in confusion. Ruddiger even was feigning confusion for a bit.
Varian, meanwhile? He watched as the water that came out of the fountain even started to change. What once was clear water had turned into a vibrant magenta. He wasn't sure what it was about his prank that tickled him so, but he soon was laughing.
"Ohhoho yes!" Varian couldn't help celebrating. "I knew it would change the water, but wow! What a result. They're gonna be talking about this for days." As he said this, Ruddiger padded up to join him and squeaked with glee. Their prank had been a success, and as far as either of the culprits knew? No one would suspect a thing of either of them.
