Olive skin; dark hair pulled into a long ponytail; often cold dark-eyed gaze. Her typical outfit consists of a smart cream turtleneck sweater and orange skirt over black leggings, accompanied by red stud earrings and a pair of bracelets on her left wrist. the personality overall personality • A smart and capable girl, Karmi is, nonetheless, not great socially; in fact, she shows a cold and standoffish side more often than anything else. Around teachers or superiors, this attitude almost disappears beneath a sometimes forced attitude of enthusiasm; although, that said, Karmi's eagerness to impress is very genuine. Taking pride in being the youngest genius at SFIT (before Hiro came along), Karmi's true love is her work, her true friends are the samples of deadly viruses that she has 'raised', and her need for human companionship, in her own eyes, is zero. That said... this is something that started life as rather more of a defence mechanism, when she was bad at making friends as a child, and has grown beyond that into something that isn't completely healthy for her. In truth, Karmi craves validation from those she looks up to - whether that be her hero Liv Amara, or possibly Big Hero Six - and thrives off being regarded highly by her peers; as the youngest genius, as a popular fanfic author... both are equally good, to her. She can quickly become jealous when one of these titles is threatened, and doesn't let easily go of her harsh attitudes towards others. Nonetheless, Karmi is brave when the situation calls for it, and takes very little persuading to help if someone is truly in trouble, regardless of potential personal cost. the history overall history • As a child, Karmi struggled at school. Oh, not with the work; she was miles ahead of the rest of her class in most things; no, what the young girl struggled with was the social aspect. She didn't seem to be able to just make friends like a normal person; she was already fascinated with things like science far beyond most of her age group and, if she tried to talk to a potential friend about her interests, she simply bored them. The young Karmi never quite learned what she was doing wrong; and so, after several miserable months of such attempts, the girl simply decided it wasn't worth it. She didn't need friends; and she threw herself, instead, into her passions: science and story writing. At the age of fifteen, she graduated high school and, with a little help from her parents, learned about the best science school in the state: San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. Though it was maybe a couple of hours away from home, Karmi was eager to sign up; and, after talking through her situation with some of the professors, her parents agreed. At SFIT, Karmi continued in roughly the same pattern she had back home. Not even try to make friends - she fast adopted a standoffish manner in social interactions - but to throw herself into her major: biotech. Paired with a roommate in the student accommodations who would look out for her, but was otherwise equally content to keep to herself, Karmi thrived on her reputation as the youngest genius in the college; and her work flourished even while her social life became practically non-existent. Her virus samples became her closest (and only) friends, but Karmi didn't care; she was happy this way. At least, for her first year and a bit. That was the point when her 'thing' of being the youngest genius was snatched away from her as freshman Hiro Hamada, an all-of-fourteen-years-old robotics whiz, joined the semester late... and, much to her irritation, was paired with her by the new Dean of the college, Professor Granville, in an attempt to help 'him' adjust socially. Around Granville, Karmi was the picture of excitement at the prospect; once the professor's back was turned, however, Karmi made clear to Hamada that she had no interest in spending time with him at all. Despite this, Hiro didn't rat her out to Granville when the time came for him to report on the assignment, leading Karmi to conclude that he was definitely crushing on her. Meanwhile she had a much bigger crush to attend to... The superhero team, Big Hero Six, had not long shown up on the scene; and Karmi was initially hooked... and imminently smitten by their leader, a purple-armoured boy probably a couple of years older than her, to whom she assigned the moniker of "Captain Cutie". He was impressive, tough, sensitive, a true leader... you know, everything that Hamada wasn't. In her spare time, Karmi became an avid follower of Big Hero Six's exploits. She first started to notice something was wrong when, studying the team from afar for her fanfiction, Karmi began to notice that Big Hero Six was becoming... Big Hero Less-Than-Six. Oh sure, Flame Jumper, Chop-Chop and Speed Queen - as she christened them for her work-in-progress narrative - were still around; but where was their fearless leader, her Captain Cutie? This bore investigating; Karmi began subtly poking around, and found a few hints that it was the looming war that had drawn the other three members of the team away. Well, she couldn't just let that be; not only would Captain Cutie need his future One True Love by his side (read: her), but couldn't her biotech knowledge prove useful to his army? She had to join. Convincing her roommate to make excuses for her at SFIT, Karmi departed for the war and joined up to the Enchanted Suns, eager to work alongside her heroes; what she hadn't counted on, however, was running into Hamada, of all people, on the same side, usurping her title of youngest genius yet again. Karmi remains incredibly cold towards him, while all the while hoping to catch a glimpse of Captain Cutie... remaining blissfully unaware that the two are one and the same person. the Role play sample the role player alias • Cheetah age • 27 pronouns • Male other characters • Mulan, Cody, Shenzi, Amelia, Experiment 624, Sunray, Judy, Dr. Facilier, Tiifu, Angry, Faline, Berlioz, Dogo |
