(ooc: January 1st, late at night. Open to all who would be in the Enchanted Forest. Humans are advised to tread carefully.)
This had looked like a suitable place to rest for the night, she decided when she'd flown in for a landing. Her aim was to avoid trouble, and so far? The glittering dragon seemed to be doing well enough for herself. Perhaps it was due in part to her camouflaging abilities. Perhaps it also was because she specifically was going out of her way to try avoiding paths humans would take. Whether or not that continued working in her favor remained to be seen. For the time being? Light Fury was content to think herself safe. She tread carefully across the grassy terrain, ear-like nubs atop her head flicking and twitching to try and pick up sounds around her, and when she was content with the assumption she was alone? She allowed herself to lay down.
Her wings were tucked in close to her body while her long tail curled around her. It would be easier to find a nice tree and hang there for the night, but it also would leave her vulnerable. Light Fury liked to think that, while on the ground, she'd be able to sense vibrations of movement and be ready to leave at a moment's notice. Plus? She'd have an easier time catching prey if anything wandered close to her. That was a thought that brought a bit of a smile to her lips.
The forest was quiet, Light Fury thought with a huff. That was a good thing. Quiet meant that no one was immediately likely to stumble upon her. No humans to try and trap her, in particular. She was glad of that. Still... she couldn't deny that she was a bit lonely. Accustomed to the company of other dragons in the Hidden World, living a solitary life had been something difficult to adjust to. It was a necessary evil, though, and she kept telling herself that. If she got too attached to something, Light Fury knew she'd be risking a lot. That was why she needed to be cautious. She needed to be ready for... what? She didn't know. All the dragon knew for sure was that it didn't feel right to assume her need for caution was ill placed. No, she thought, it was much safer this way. That way, she wouldn't be blindly trusting every animal or creature that came into contact with her... if any. She had yet to let anyone really get close. Not since...
Movement. Light Fury's head lifted from the ground, and her pale blue eyes shifted around. Prey, perhaps? The thought seemed to beckon her stomach to react, because it gurgled audibly. Irritated, the dragon smacked her clawed paw against her abdomen as though trying to silence herself. Then, she rose to her full height and started to slink forward. Pupils shifted between full and slits, and her body lowered a bit so she was closer to the ground. In her throat, she was letting the heat start to accumulate. One shot was all it would take to take down something small. Even something larger wouldn't withstand a blast, really, she told herself. However, as she slunk through the moonlit forest, she froze in place and started to let the heat dissipate. That was no prey she saw up ahead.
In her defense, Light Fury didn't know what she'd expected when she'd entered the Enchanted Forest. She thought that she'd be alone. The presence of another creature ahead of her seemed to prove otherwise. That was enough to make her trill a bit. Perhaps it was bad to alert the other of her presence, but Light Fury was hoping maybe this encounter wouldn't be terrible.
Throwing caution to the wind? Aren't we cheeky tonight, she told herself.
