(ooc: Open primarily to captured Suns, but if it would make sense for your Thorns to be here then they can be here.)
Stupid. Stupid, stupid, mousebrained furball.
The thoughts bounced back and forth in the she-cat's head as she lay on the ground with paws covering her face. Maybe this was what she deserved, a part of her thought for a heartbeat. She'd been foolish enough to listen to Ashfur. Foolish, she thought, for believing that he would guide her to Hollyleaf's location when she should have been working her paws off to make up for everything. Now she was stuck in a world of shadows. No way out, at least not that she could see, and the regrets of her actions her only company for the time being. No Leafpool at her side, either. Her sister could very well have still been back in ThunderClan, facing her own trials and tribulations. Maybe, she thought again, that was for the best. She'd rather have known that her sister was safe and warm in her nest back home than out in the throes of war.
Slowly, Squirrelflight moved her paws away from her face. Green eyes gazed out into the darkness around her, and her fluffy tail curled closer to her body after a moment. No amount of berating herself would change what had happened, she realized, but that didn't stop the thoughts from cascading over her. Would Brambleclaw miss her? Would anyone else, for that matter? Her ears went back against her head as she gave it a small shake. If Brambleclaw did miss her, he probably just missed getting to be cruel to her. But then... wasn't that what she deserved? For lying to every cat?
I did it to protect Leafpool, she reminded herself. She also had done what she did because StarClan meddling had occurred, pushing her into the position with no way out of it, but... at the end of the day, she boiled it down to wanting to protect Leafpool. If that meant every cat hated her, and that no one would come looking for her when she'd made the hairbrained decision she did, then she could at least accept that much. Though still, some small part of her hoped that some cat cared. Surely her father would. Or her mother. She hoped they would, at least. They still loved her. Didn't they?
Her stomach rumbled, pulling her out of her thoughts. Truth be told, Squirrelflight wasn't sure how long it had been since she'd been lured there. If there was prey, though, then she would find it. She pushed herself to her paws and started to sniff at the air, hoping to find a mouse at the very least. Squirrel would have been even better, as it was her favorite, but she wasn't getting her hopes up that high.
...That's not prey, Squirrelflight realized when she scented something. That was a someone. Cautious, Squirrelflight lowered herself to the ground and started to pad forward as slow as she could manage. Her ears pressed back against her head again. She could see the shape of someone in the darkness, but with how she was still adjusting to the scents of everything their scent was unfamiliar. Squirrelflight grimaced. She didn't want to, but she had to call out. Just to see who it was.
"Hello?"
